“A quiet retreat opposite Mudgee Racecourse”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2013 via mobile

Over the past few years we have stayed on several occasions at the Parkland Resort in one of the suites and have found it very comfortable & reasonably priced. Whilst it is not new it is very well maintained. The restaurant is excellent for both breakfast & dinner and it is only a short cab ride into Town!

Beautiful motel. We were upgraded to the best room we have ever stayed in! Friendly staff who went out of their way to make our visit (wedding anniversary) very special. Great meal in the dining room, nice continental breakfast included in the price. Lovely outlook over rose gardens, lawns and water fountains from the shady verandah. Close to wineries and not far from town centre. Building and grounds very clean and well maintained. Excellent value for money. When in Mudgee this is definitely the place to stay!

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms open onto lovely verandah so you don;t need to have an upstairs room to have acce...

Can't believe they can do it for the price. Exceptional value for money. Restaurant good, deluxe rooms spacious, beautifully fitted and look over the gardens and lawns. This is really and up market motel, free WiFi, lounge area and outside sitting area.

We had a pleasant 2 days in Mudgee.
I booked the hotel online which included Continetal breakfast. A selection of fruits, yoguts, cereals and toast. Also, coffee and a choice of teas and juices.

If you enjoy bike riding, they have free bike hire. We took our own bikes along, must say there bikes looked fine. The ride is not difficult to visit the wineries from the hotel. Great fun.
It is only 5 minutes bike ride into Mudgee town on the bike track across from the hotel.

The room we had upstairs was very spacious, the only comment I would say is that the airconditioner was very noisy.

We stayed a Friday night in a deluxe room and we were quite happy with the hotel. It was close to wineries, including a cheese and wine place next door. They also had tasting at the hotel. The room was very large with a lounge and table and chairs as well. Top floor is better because of the long verandah. Staff were friendly both at reception and the restaurant. Negatives: the shower must be effected by other peoples use in the complex. I found it was either too hot or too cold. Shop around as to which site you book on. Our friends who stayed at the same time got breakfast included with their booking. We paid $10 each for continental breakfast which was fine. I had booked with Agoda, got a discount for my points and then lost the benefit by having to buy breakfast. This is not the hotel's fault, just my advice to shop around. I would stay again.

Room Tip: second level rooms have a nicer verandah overlooking the fountain

This "resort" is more like a motel. Local road repair gangs stay here and warm up their trucks at 06:45am. Couldn't sleep because of the noise. Manager is not in control - when I commented about the truck noise, Chantelle told me "Yes, I heard them as well". You'd think management would do something about a major disturbance before receiving compalints !

Staying just one night, we opted for a "Managers Special Room" for just $130 for a room that was very spacious with a single bed and a queen bed, 2 person sofa with coffee table. The room had a small dining table with two chairs, LCD TV, Tea & Coffee facilities with toaster in the room. The main room was acceptable in standard and well presented. As we were on the second storey there is a common balcony along the outside of the room with Jack and Jill chairs were smokers seemed to sit. This was not desirable to us being non smokers and we were not asked if we want rooms away from smokers and did not realise they would be near by.

The bathrooms were in serious need of renovation. They appeared to have been painted with tile paint but this was now lifting and the silcone sealing around the vanity needed replacing. I must point out the bathrooms were clean despite the lack of modernisation.

This is not a 4 star hotel ( which their direct website stated) but more like a larger room sized motel. We did not try the food or bar or pool and were just using it to sleep in and the rooms are more than adequate and beds are very comfortable and clean.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for rooms away from smokers if you require one.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property.

We appreciate all feedback and would like to ensure that you are aware that our 'Standard' rooms are currently undergoing refurbishment which includes the bathrooms.

As you mentioned there is one large balcony for all guests to enjoy and there are no specific smoking areas, although where possible when guests inform us we will endeavour to move them to another area of the hotel.

It is disappointing to hear that you feel that we are not a 4 star hotel although unfortunately you were unable to use our facilities such as the indoor pool, spa, sauna, free usage of bikes, tennis courts and our dining facilities to ensure a full spectrum of what we have to offer.

Please feel free to contact us if you are travelling through Mudgee as we would be happy to offer one of our 'deluxe' completely refurbished rooms at a discounted rate.

Once again, thank you for your feedback.

Kind Regards,
Chantelle Pryer
