Forgandenny House Bed and Breakfast

Robbie and Errol should be running the country. They both have other jobs as well as running their two BnBs. As soon as you step into Forgandenny you feel a large pair of arms wrap around you in comfort. No I'm not talking about the hosts I'm talking about the feel of the house. The fire was going so it was instant warmth. The rooms are stuffed and cosy dated with the house (a previous Doctor's home and surgery in the 1800s). OMG the breakfasts! Poached pear the first day and stewed fruit trifle the next. Of course there is the cooked option, good luck fitting it all in. The jams are all made in house. When you look on the website you think 'ho hum' about the decor as a younger person (couple) don't - book and enjoy the history. Location is opposite a park and pool.

Room Tip: The location is very convenient to restaurants, shops. I've said there's a pool but it's...

A prefect house, perfect host in a prefect location.
Robbie is the quintessential example of everything a B&B host should be.
The accomodation is second to none, the rooms are clean, spacious and maintained to the highest levels.
The breakfasts are to die for.
The Poached pear itself makes the 3 hour trip from Sydney worthwhile. Followed by a huge country breakfast of eggs, bacon, mushrooms, asparagus, grilled tomatoes with toast. A freshly made fruit smoothie. Set up for the day.
If you are only going to stay in one place in mudgee, you have to try Forgandenny House to experience the absolute delight of country hospitality, provided to the highest standards.

This is a fantastic B&B. Lovely old house but with all the mod cons. Luxurious rooms with en-suite and great communal lounge areas. The breakfast is wonderful, freshly made smoothie, fruit, eggs cooked to order and plentiful. I can't recommend this place enough. Just a short stroll into Mudgee town centre and a lovely park with outdoor swimming pool across the road.

After arriving late on the Friday night of the Australia Day long weekend, my husband and I were welcomed by Errol, who immediately made us feel at home. The house is in beautiful condition, and a convenient stroll to the main shops, restaurants, and cafes of Mudgee. We made sure to make use of the tennis court, which was a big plus, however you can also cross the road to the public swimming pool if you feel like a dip.

The highlight of the stay had to be Robbie's amazing three course breakfasts (well, technically two, but her smoothies were a meal in themselves, and tasted incredible!). Each day we enjoyed a fruit entrée, followed by a sumptuous cooked breakfast. Just make sure you leave some space for some wine tastings! The local cellar doors are a mere few minutes drive away, so it's the perfect hub to head out and explore all Mudgee has to offer.

On Errol's recommendation, we ventured out to Blacklea Estate, for the most amazing oils and dressings. Other recommendations from us are Elliot Rocke Estate, for their great collection, including a spot on iced wine, and di Lusso for their Italian varietals. The Mudgee Brewing Company is also a must for dinner - not only can you walk there in 2-3 minutes, but what they lack in menu selection (a choice of usually about 3-4 dishes), they make up for taste!

Forgandenny is the perfect place for a relaxing weekend away.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Blue room, which is at the back of the property, and very quiet

We stayed at Forgandenny on the strong recommendation of our son and daughter-in-law who had stayed a few months previously with their one year old toddler. It is the most amazing heritage family home, and we felt part of the family as soon as we arrived. The welcome and hospitality were second to none. There were so many little touches to add to our comfort. The room was perfect, and the breakfast delicious. Most of all the hosts, Errol and Robbie, were fantastic. Errol even had a photo on his phone of our little grand-daughter taking her first steps in their dining room. We heartily recommend it to anyone visiting the historic town of Mudgee, and we shall certainly be back ourselves one day.

Room Tip: We stayed in the red room which was lovely. There is a Queen's suite which would be great for a...

My girlfriend and I stayed there for the weekend mid December. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Greeted with a welcoming friendly smile and hospitality that made it feel inviting and homely. Only worried for a second as we are a young couple and this was our first stay in a bed and breakfast. Our nerves and privacy issues were suddenly eased when walking through this gorgeous old heritage cottage with interact detailed high ceilings and vast space that you just don't see in the houses and homes of today. Our room was detailed and decorated from the option of summer or winter robes and slippers to the antique jewerly boxes and collection of un-aged novels. Our favourite moment would have to be breakfast. We sat down eagerly to the freshest professionally cut and presented selection of fruit only to be further impressed with the bacon ,poach eges, gorgeously cooked mushrooms ,asparagus and peeled seasoned and roasted tomato. That all just melted in our mouths a feast my own mother couldnt capture or create. Forgandenny ticks every box with excellent service, gorgeous garden views and comfort. Along with the laughs and stories we shared with the infectiously friendly Robbie and Errol I would highly recommend this to anyone and will defentially go out of my way to return and catch up with our new friends and affordable luxourious holiday haven.
