“Maggies Cottage - lovely, peaceful retreat”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

Thank you Chris for your wonderful hospitality. We had a lovely time in your warm, comfortable cottage. The fire warmed up the whole cottage on a cold Mudgee weekend - it was hard to drag ourselves away from the comfort of Maggie's to venture into town. Staying out of town added to the "getting away from it all" feeling - but still only a 15 minute drive into town for shopping and dining out. The upstairs bedrooms are a real treat with the en-suite bathrooms and views. Thank you for the home baked bread and jam. You have thought of everything. It was a lovely break away for four Sydney mums.

Room Tip: 3 large bedrooms makes this a perfect cottage for 3 couples or 3 singles; The 4th person/couple sle...

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful cottage. You feel like in the early 20st century - but with all the modern comfort of today.
So much attention to detail, beautiful surroundings, close to wineries and town - plus gorgeous homemade bread and jams!

My partner booked this cottage as a weekend away surprise for my birthday. It was the most relaxing place I have been in a very long time, I did not want to leave. Our hosts were very friendly delivering freshly baked bread and just laid eggs for breakfast. The cottage itself was spacious yet cosy and very romantic. The attention to detail was amazing and I would highly recommend this experience to anyone wishing to get away and unwind. My partner and I will definintely be back.

Thanks for the generous review. We won't forget you two sitting in the car, lost at the top of the hill and you asking him "where have you brought me?"

My Husband and I stayed at the Blackmans Cottage for a week during the Xmas season of 2012. From the time we stepped into our cottage up and until we checked out, it has been a wonderful and comfortable experience. The cottage itself is a 2 bedroom and 1 bath, with a pot-bellied heater and a small kitchenette, a barbeque outside and woods all around you.Tv and music player and some table games are available. If your looking for a place away from home and with quality self/family time search no more for ILKLEY gives it all.The view outside ur porch is breathtaking. There is also a small pond a few meters away from ur cottage to sit and have ur coffee/tea.The land itself is huge,so long walks are a good exercise. You will get to see kangaroos/wallabies around ur cabin or on the land itself. Also drive to town is less than 10 minutes drive.Overall,if you and your family or partner would like to experience a cozy, comfortable and down to earth experience, ILKLEY and its owners Chris & Jorie are definately a high recommendation.

Room Tip: If your a family with two kids, Blackmans is perfect.Since this cottage has a master bedroom and two...

We stayed at the Calving Gully Cottage. It was quiet, secluded, and extremely cosy. It had one bed, yet was very spacious and the wood-fired heater was great to have. The outstanding part of the cottage was the attention to detail -- the wood for the fire was all at hand; tea/coffee/milk/cereals were provided for breakfast; the fridge/cupboards were stocked with condiments; there were board games in the cupboard; nice soaps/makeup wipes in the bathroom; and fresh bread waiting on our arrival. Would definitely visit again.

Thanks for the great review. It's good to know what guests respond to.
Sadly you didn't get to meet the 'roos. Josie, the hand reared matriarch passed away of old age (17) a few weeks ago. We now wait to see whether the rest of the mob will return without her presence.

We stayed in Maggie's cottage which was perfect for our group of 4 adults and 3 kids. The 2 bedrooms upstairs both had ensuites and there was another bedroom and bathroom downstairs for the kids. Beds were very comfortable. The outlook from the cottage is lovely and a kangaroo visited in the afternoon. Chris the owner had thought of everything you might need. Fresh eggs and bread for breakfast, fruit, biscuits, juice, milk and even tomato sauce for the barbies. There is even port for after dinner! At the bottom of the hill is a wonderful kid's area with cubby house, chess, billy cart and slide. The kids played there for ages. We loved our stay at Maggie's cottage and the kids are asking when they can go back.

Thanks for the great review. Two clarifications for future guests:
The eggs are courtesy of our own chooks and if they're not on their game there are none to pass on. We don't see any point providing supermarket eggs.
The critters ('roos etc) are wild and it's their choice to visit you.

We recently spent two delightful nights in "Calving Gully Cottage". It's a one bedder and very spacious for that. Everything you need and a roaring fire to boot with wood provided. The cottages are well separated so it's very quiet. There are kangaroos on the property and beautiful parrots who visit. The cottage is very new, but made from old things, so it has the character of almost a settler's cottage, but all mod cons.
We took a day at the wineries and drove 12km! Very convenient indeed. We heartily recommend it.
