“Just beautifull!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

This is a fabulous spot to go for a lovely, easy walk (just my kinda walk), is only an 8 k track and has some lovely views as well as great bird serenades. Also only about 1/2 hr drive from Mudgee, so very accessable.

“Great walking trail and a haven for twitchers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2011

About a half hour drive out on the road to Bylong and Wollar is the Munghorn. At the top of the range is an 8k walking track called Castle Rock walking track. This is an easy walk and when you reach the end you are rewarded with the big sanstone pagodas called Castle Rock. This area, especiall y a little further along the road at Honeyeater Flat , you will find many species of Australian birds. This area is a meeting of east and west hence the diversity of species. There have been several hundred documented. There is also a cfew examples of aboriginal rock paintings but theses are difficult to find and always found in north facing caves.

“Great picnic spot at Moolarben picnic area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2010

Moolarben Picnic area is about 25 minutes drive from Mudgee and well into the countryside. It's a pretty and shaded spot known for birdlife. The picnic area is peaceful and a pleasant place to relax as you have a bite.

Facilities are basic - a simple toilet, no running water, 2 iron barbies and a picnic table. Plenty of ants and flies, of course.
