“Renovated family rooms very nice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013 via mobile

Don't be fooled by the plain, typical motel exterior!

I booked two renovated family rooms for a group of us and it was very good value at $38 pp.
The 6 sleeper would be good for a couple with kids as the queen bed was in a separate room. The 5 bedder was a single room but a bit more spacious.
Having been renovated it was very clean and modern. The toiletries were nice. Beds very comfy.
Note to owners: you can't please everyone, but can you have higher pillows as well so people can have the option? We found the use of one was too flat, and two was too high for us. That is the only fault!

I love how they have gone away from the yukky patterned bedcovers most motels use that probably never gets washed. Well done and i hope more motels go this way.

We happened to arrive in Mudgee on a Friday when, unknown to us, the Wine Festival was on. As we had not booked ahead we found No Vacancy signs on many Motels. One Motel only had large family rooms left which were too expensive. But they did phone around and found a vacancy at The Lodge. The double room is clean, a good size and average in appearance. The bed and carpet appear new. There are bedside drawers and lamps, a very small table with 2 chairs, a desk that has seen better days, and a chipped timber stand for bags. There is no sofa on which to relax, and given the size of the room there is room for one. The walls are painted concrete blocks which give a cold appearance, and in places the blocks and doors etc could do with a touch up of paint. The tea/coffee facilities and squeezed on a shelf behind the door with very little room. The bathroom is basic and could do with some attention. We were allotted a room near a busy road, so there was a fair bit of traffic noise. From the road the motel looks quite unappealing, and normally we would have driven past. The surrounds could be so much better. Given the outside appearance the room was better than we expected. I feel the price of $125 is too high, and is $20-$25 more than we have paid on our 3 weeks of travel staying in Golden Chain motels, which, apart from two, did provide a comfortable sofa. Unlike everywhere else we have been, there was no discount given for NRMA or Seniors Cards, due to it being a Friday night. This fact had made no difference anywhere else we have been. Whether our room was one of the renovated ones mentioned by other reviewers is hard to say. While the bed and carpet appear to be new the surroundings do not. On trying the access the advertised free Wireless Internet it did not connect.

Room Tip: Book early and ask for a renovated room

Stayed in a renovated townhouse (2 bed). Bedrooms great, living room great, bathroom fantastic, outdoor setting (backyard) excellent. We loved it$200 per night between 2 couples meant $50 per head per night. We will return.

We recently stayed at The Lodge in Mudgee. We have stayed there previously, but the new owners are in the process of renovating. We were 4 adults and had the unrenovated 2 bedroom unit which had a queen bed in the main room and 3 singles in the other. Both had their own TV and were spotlessly clean and comfortable. The bedding was excellent and we all had a very good sleep. My only negative is for 4 adults the bathroom is very small.

The owners were very friendly and obliging and can't do enough for you. We didn't get to eat there, but I have heard good things about it. We had friends staying in the 2 bedroom renovated unit and that has been done up very nicely however the bathroom is still small.

I have stayed in every motel in Mudgee and have always thought that this one was at the very bottom of the choices. I was wrong. The motel, though it looks a little drab from the road, has been given a new lease of life by the new owners.
I stayed in a refurbished King room and found it to be very well appointed and free of highway noise.
The restaurant - a big plus given the distance required to get to town - serves simple but very nice meals and I can highly recommend the reasonably priced cooked breakfast.

We had very pleasant holiday at, and around Mudgee using The Lodge Motel as a base. A very good motel with excellent service to rooms, and a well run restaurant on site, serving good breakfasts, and a variety of evening meals. The management running this motel. are very friendly and helpful. We stayed for nine nights and enjoyed them all. No hesitation in recommending this motel to anyone. Thank You for a great time. This is an older style motel, which the new owners are progressively refurbishing.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit, which had not been refurbished. Our unit was clean and very spacious, providing more than enough room for our two young adult children to chill out and relax in their own space.

The continental buffet breakfast was also very good value and the staff were attentive, friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Although this motel is located on a major road, we were not troubled by road noise.
