We recently stayed at AJ's and found the place amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners Paul & Mandy. They went out of their way to ensure our stay was truly memorable. Underfloor heating was on, candles lit and champagne chilled.

The house was large and very spacious and the rooms modern & very quiet. We loved the french doors opening onto the large verandahs and the really thick, generously sized bathrobes. Free wireless broadband throughout the place was an added bonus.

I was a bit concerned when I saw the airport was close by. But we hardly noticed any of the light aircraft and it seems it is hardly used anyway as Mudgee no longer has any commercial flights.

The location was perfect for us. Walking distance to wineries and the cheese factory. The view across the road is of a vineyard and at the rear you see gardens and other 5 acre properties.

The breakfast each day was delicious and leisurely as we could sleep in and have breakfast at any time we felt like up to 10am. Both continental and a full range of hot breakfast options were available to choose from. I went for the pancakes and the other half went for french toast - delish. The 2nd morning we had their traditional country breakfast which was also great.

Another bonus was afternoon tea each day where Mandy cooked up a storm with items such as scones with jam and cream or chocolate mud cake. I'd come back just for the cake.

There were plently of restaurants for us to choose from each night within a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk - we did both, or you can even grab a cab. As it was a weeknight we did not get the opportunity to dine at their "Chef's Table" but we'll definitely be back to try this on a weekend.

Overall a fantastic stay...we've been telling all our friends and now planning a return visit as a group.

My partner and I recently stayed at A J's Guesthouse Mudgee. Have to say it is nothing like what is advertised. The place is newly built and reminds me of something built in the Hills district which isn't far wrong considering thay sit amongst dozens of houses, suburbia. They say they are in the heart of the vineyardsand yes there are some grape vines down the road but what is out your front door and noisy and they dont tell you about is that they sit at the end of the Mudgee Airport and planes come in low to land.
The house is decorated nicely , though the six guestrooms that they have are a tad small but all come with ensuites and are nicely done , the colours could be a little less bright . pool is beautiful .
The guest shared lounge is spacious and comfortable.
The group that we were with stayed mid week when the rates were cheaper , but they don't do breakfast during the week which we found irritating since we were at a guesthouse.
The owners Paul and Mandy really tried hard but they seemed to be not very comfortable with their chosen profession.Nothing seemed natural and relaxing.

Would I stay there again ? Probably not. Definately ideal for a big group .

Would I visit mudgee again? you bet it is a great place .
