By far the most comfortable I've ever been in a tent. This was just what we needed, a few days away from it all, in a beautiful location with great wine. We were unlucky to have rain for most of our stay with the temperature overnight dropping down into the negatives, yet we still managed to keep dry, warm and comfortable. The fireplace in the tent was our savior. The local wildlife are friendly, but not as friendly as the local people. Be sure to grab a coffee from WarBëhr in town, and to make it to Lowes winery at sunset for a glass of wine overlooking the vineyards. The wineries that really impressed were Lowes for their friendly service and some amazing wines, Gilbert for their tastings and their broad range of quality wines, Short Sheep for their small yet impressive operation, and Slowfox who for a brand new small scale winery really impressed, I look forward to seeing what they come up with in the future.
Ratings are real, the experience is surreal!
We stayed during the winter solstice (coinciding with a new moon) for our anniversary and the experience of the pristine night skies ranked up there with the top stargazzing experiences (and we're avid stargazzers) that we've had. The views of the rolling hills, the sounds of nature, experiencing dusk and dawn, the cheeky wild deer and kangaroos that we saw... all this culminated to making this an experience not to forget.
Cam and Tash have truly thought of absolutely everything! Fireplaces (inside tent and out), ultra comfy bed, luxurious bath (with hot water), cooking provisions, fridge/freezer, bug spray (thankfully no need for it), flushing toilet, lotsa blankets...I mean the experience was faultless. Even the way you retrieve your key was cool!
So it doesn't look like this review is coming from a Sierra Escape-loving bot I will give a couple of constructive criticisms, the fire places could have been cleaned out and ready to be lit when we arrived and the bed is too big and comfortable!! (that last one is not a criticism ;-))
We've been showing off our experience to our jealous friends and a few of them are already planning to go. You'll do yourself a disservice if you don't take advantage of this place before the word REALLY gets out! Go go go!
Imagine a hotel accommodation on top of the hill and just you and your partner without anyone else. Truly an incredible experience and stay. My partner and I recently got engaged to this majestic place. The first morning was the best part, waking up to the most beautiful sunrise the and overlooking the mountains. The photos are definitely an understatement of what's in store for you. The tent itself has everything. Basically you don't need to bring anything besides clothes. We were very surprised on how the stay went since we do not have any idea on what to expect but we don't have anything bad to say. Even with the strongest winter wind, the tent kept us safe and sound. It was definitely an experience of a lifetime. Cheers to the lovely owners Cam and Tasch.
Sierra Escape for us, was a wonderful surprise. Following the simple instructions to find the location built excitement as we left the black top for the dirt road. Entering the property and spying the accommodation above us on the hill was breathtaking. The surrounding view along with the feeling of isolation gave a sense of impending luxury. And the accomodation did not disappoint. Comfortable, cosy, and stylish, the tent left nothing to be wanted but tricked us into believing we were true campers. We should know better because we are campers... but sitting by the fire, roasting the complimentary jumbo marshmallows under the stars, we could have been a million miles from another human. Once we finally readied for bed, we showered in the spacious and hot shower (the bath was very pleasant too, but being water wise only used it one night), the bed was VERY comfy. Only complaint would be the pillows which were way too soft and too few but a non issue in the grand scheme of things. We woke to a superb view of the sunrise over the valleys before whipping up some pancakes on the burner and taking a walk around the property. We loved it. Great to hear there are plans for further expansion for more and more people to enjoy this experience. We feel lucky to have experienced it as the only rent on the property. Tip of the hat to you Tasch and Cam.
We stayed only one night due to holidays booking the site out, and were so sad to pack up and leave the next morning. The drive was as directed, and the location much easier to find than I anticipated. The instructions sent by Cam, the owner, were excellent and incredibly helpful.
The tent itself was beautiful - cost, luxurious and well-stocked.
Our morning awakening consisted of a mob of kangaroos joining us near our tent for breakfast, and a quick deer darting through the bushes.
I would, and will, be visiting again. I don't think I have slept that well in years, both from the comfort of the bed, and the peace and quiet of our surrounds.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough, and can't wait to return soon!
My fiancé and I travelled to Sierra Escape recently for a weekend stay, it was fantastic. The location is amazing, with views over valleys, surrounded by cattle, horses, sheep and Kangaroos as far as the eye could see. The tent itself is like a luxury hotel room made of canvas, with one of the most comfortable beds we've ever slept in. It has a seperate bathroom with shower and bath, a BBQ, USB power for devices like phones and tablets, a deck for sitting and admiring the view...the list goes on. Mudgee town is only a short drive away, as are the wineries and restaurants which are exceptional. It's a really great experience, so well thought out, we can't wait to go back!
We just had our first weekend in Mudgee and absolutely loved it. Beautiful wineries and food made it a weekend to remember.
The tent perfectly accommodated our needs. The breeze that came across the hills made an otherwise hot weekend (34 degrees +) surprisingly comfortable in the tent. The bath was gorgeous too - almost like having our own pool.
And that view is just stunning. Well done to the owners for creating a wonderful, private glamping experience to really feel like you get away from it all. Thanks for sharing your little piece of paradise with us.
