“Peaceful, gorgeous, beautiful - will definitely return!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2011

We stayed at Wildwood for 3 nights over the Easter/Anzac weekend and loved it. It's true that's its a big house with 4 rooms onto common areas (3 good sized common areas with a roaring fire) but as we were in a group of 4 and the other rooms were occupied by another group of 4, we had no problem. The other group of ppl were very friendly and lovely too.
All four bedrooms are quite large with private ensuite, also of decent size. We loved the beds and slept very soundly; good shower pressure; and a gorgeous view out the window into the bush. Wildwood is a remote location, but only about 5ish minute drive from town or even less to the closest wineries.
Rob was an excellent host and we enjoyed great cooked breakfasts every morning, as well as lots of local information & reccomendations & lifts into town.
Its true that the guesthouse has no internal or external locks on doors but this didn't bother us at all. It may have to be a conseridation for others. Wildwood is down the end on a long dirt driveway in the bush (the mainhouse about 50m away) so I think its quite safe.
Whilst we were in Mudgee we enjoyed the Farmers Markets, wineries, Gulgong and Go Grazing (all a MUST in the area).
We can't wait to go back and this time we are looking to take more family and rent the whole house out!

It's lovely, but I wouldn't return. Wildwood is a gorgeous house, set in the bush. The hosts get it absolutely right: friendly but not obtrusive. However, something I wish I'd known beforehand - there are no locks on any of the doors - external or internal. I know it's out the back of beyond, and doubtless very safe, but I like to be able to lock the door. As a previous post pointed out - four separate rooms open onto public areas, so you need to be okay with possibly sharing a house with strangers, and you can't lock a door. Perhaps I'm overly tense, but I didn't sleep well. I like a locked door between me and the rest of the world. A shame, because it really is lovely.

We just had a wonderfully quiet, romantic, peaceful but fun Aussie country weekend at the Wildwood Guesthouse in Mudgee, NSW, Australia. Anne and her husband Robert were wonderfull and friendly hosts. Their guesthouse is located in a very quiet country location with natural bush, ponds and wildlife surrounding it to give it a true country feel. It is beautifully decorated but also very cozy and inviting. We had privacy even though there are 4 suites in the house. Each ensuite has access to the wrap around veranda for a quiet sit for reading or a sip of wine from the many area wineries. We enjoyed the company of the other guests though at our great full breakfasts served by Anne and Robert. The common lounge has a great view of the pond and of the wildlife (green grass parrots, rabbits, kangaroo and other birds). Our ensuite was very well appointed and luxurious. Anne and Robert shared the many things to do in the area....we went to hear a performance of Miss Daisy Durr, a country music singer/comedienne. Anne was able to book us in to the Blue Wren Winery for a gourmet dinner. We even bought two paintings by a local artist. The weekend was rainy but we still had fun and even enjoyed the rain on the tin roof while we were very warm and cozy. If we had the time, we would definitely go stay there again. We will take wonderful memories of the Wildwood Guesthouse back to America!!

Wildwood Guesthouse is a gorgeous house built in old country style. It has a central living area with kitchen, dining room and lounge, then four guest rooms with ensuites coming off the main area. In that way the rooms are not as private as you may like, you are essentially sharing a big house with three other couples. Our room was off the kitchen. (ask for one of the back roms) However there are entrances from the verandah to all rooms. The host was most accommodating, will make dinner reservations, drop you into town, there is a bottle of wine to drink, biscuits, port. Breakfast is served beautifully, you eat with the other guests. Not too far from town, yet definitely in the country. A wonderful place to stay if you want to relax.

An awesome escape with fabulous accommodation for a B&B. Very clean and tidy with modern re-modeling. Excellent service with polite staff. Stayed in the Tannery which was stunning but they also Offer other options of accommodation including a Cottage & Guesthouse. Very happy with this Bed and Breakfast. Recommend to any one who is going up that way or passing by. A must.
