Country style surroundings to put you in the mood and very close to the best wineries. It also has lots of goodies for momentos or pressies, but it's on the expensive side.

I would drive the 5 hour again just for the chilli marianted feta ... maybe the pesto one too. Charming cottage with friendly staff. Worth a visit while in Mudgee.

After hearing of a local producer of cheese and wine in Mudgee offering tastings and sales, I'd expected a pleasurable experience. After walking in, it was almost still silence, even though there were several tables occupied. No signs of wine or cheese tastings around, and after perusing the cheese displays in the fridge, I asked where the tastings are held, to be told choose a cheese from the window. Similar case for their wines. We had a cheese plate ($30), apparently the cheddar hadn't set correctly and tasted more like Brie - however overall a tasty enough plate. Bread and lavosh were sparing and the menu indicated an extra $5.50 for more bread, so our cheese cutting was very generous on the breads. Admittedly it was Sunday at lunch, although we did notice several couples enter, do the wander around and then leave.
I would suggest much improvement to the 'tastings' and potentially capitalise on this. If improved, I'd return.
