Not only was this our favourite place to eat in Cuenca, it's one of the tastiest meals we've had during our 9 day trip in Spain.
Given the reviews on Trip Advisor and the advice from the person running our accommodation we initially headed to El Secreto only to discover it is closed for dinner on Tuesdays and all day Wednesdays. We were so glad that we ended up here instead.
The restaurant is set inside a hotel, which is just beautiful. It has fabulous carved roof ceilings and makes you feel as though you're stepping back in time.
The setting is spectacular, with views over the cliffs and the Parador hotel.
Also, the restaurant opens at 7pm, which is almost unheard of around here, most open at 8 at the earliest or more likely 9. We arrived at 7:30 and were the first ones here and had our pick of tables. The service was excellent.
We ordered between us the Pisto Manchego (the most palatable of the local cuisines), the pork tenderloin cooked in cider with apple sauce (the most tender pork I've ever eaten), and the house salad for one person (which was more than a meal in itself, I can't imagine what the two person portion would have been like).
We'll definitely be back next time we're in Cuenca!
