“Spectacular setting, quaint atmosphere, delicious food. Check, check, check.”
Reviewed June 18, 2014 via mobile

Not only was this our favourite place to eat in Cuenca, it's one of the tastiest meals we've had during our 9 day trip in Spain.

Given the reviews on Trip Advisor and the advice from the person running our accommodation we initially headed to El Secreto only to discover it is closed for dinner on Tuesdays and all day Wednesdays. We were so glad that we ended up here instead.

The restaurant is set inside a hotel, which is just beautiful. It has fabulous carved roof ceilings and makes you feel as though you're stepping back in time.

The setting is spectacular, with views over the cliffs and the Parador hotel.

Also, the restaurant opens at 7pm, which is almost unheard of around here, most open at 8 at the earliest or more likely 9. We arrived at 7:30 and were the first ones here and had our pick of tables. The service was excellent.

We ordered between us the Pisto Manchego (the most palatable of the local cuisines), the pork tenderloin cooked in cider with apple sauce (the most tender pork I've ever eaten), and the house salad for one person (which was more than a meal in itself, I can't imagine what the two person portion would have been like).

We'll definitely be back next time we're in Cuenca!

“Great food, wine and view”
Reviewed May 12, 2014

One of the best meals in Spain, sitting next to the window overlooking the gorge and the Parador. We started with olives and wine before dinner. service was a little slow, but pleasant, and we were in no hurry. Every course was a delight and not a bacalao in sight. The Fontal tempranillo in a 50cl bottle was exceptional. The price seemed to be reasonable for what we had.

“Fantastic Find in Cuenca”
Reviewed December 28, 2013 via mobile

The view is great; the fried eggs with ham and potatoes were quintessential Espana; and the €10 bottle of local wine made the evening perfect. We met the owner and she recommended the brownie and ice cream for dessert and it was a fine recommendation. Very satisfying experience and quite affordable for the setting high above a beautiful cliff.

“Beautiful view”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

Stopped in for an early lunch (ordered a mixture of tapas). Good choice for vegetarians. Food outstanding. If you want a table by the window - and you do - it is worth making a reservation. Friendly service. Highly recommend!
