“splendid view from room with terrace”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

the hotel is located in the centre of the old city; you need a GPS to find the hotel (small Streets in the old town). Once you arrived, you have the possibility to park the car in a public parking space (17€/day). The hotel has 34 rooms : tip choose a room 409 ! splendid views from the terrace and very quiet. All staff were very friendly. The old centre is nice ; a lot of restaurants and bars just a minute away.

Room Tip: choose for room 409 !

Hotel Convento Del Giraldo was a surprise for us as we had booked to stay in the sister hotel the Hotel Leonor de Aquitania up the road. This is located right in the old town of Cuenca, just a few minutes away from the main square. In our opinion a much better location than the Parador, which we looked down on from our bedroom window. Excellent value for money. Breakfast was extra but also good value for money with a wide selection of hot & cold dishes. Free car parking was just a few minutes up the road. We absolutely loved Cuenca, steeped in history, with it's narrow streets, old churches and convents all perched on a tiny hilltop with deep ravines either side. Wonderful views and excellent, well marked footpaths along the ravines. We stayed for 3 nights but could easily stayed for longer as there is plenty to do & see. The beds were very firm which can be a problem with dicky backs, it was for me. WiFi in room with no difficulty. Good heating which was needed in the evenings. Recommended.

This is a very nice hotel. I stayed one night and thought it was value for money. Breakfast was plentiful but you need to pay for it. Its not included in the hotel's stay. I have nothing to fault about this hotel but i dun think I will return again. 1 night at cuenca is more than enough. There really is nothing much to do although the views are spectacular

This hotel was very easy to find, and on large roads. Parking was very convenient, just up the street, but a bit pricey compared to other places in Spain. The room size was huge, but with about one-third under the eaves space. However, the useable space was of good size. The restaurant next door and associated with the hotel was good if not well frequented. We were only one of two tables that evening. The room had a safe.

Large bedroom, very warm in the cold, wintry weather of January, friendly reception staff and an unbeatable location, a stone's throw from the cathedral and central square. Would recommend this hotel.

Not a very big place to stay but the hotel is central and the staff are friendly. The no1 bus brings travellers between the hotel and the centre of Cuenca, a number of bars/restaurants nearby. Overall good value for money

Good value-for-money hotel in the most historic part of town. Best to park in the free carpark at Calle Larga, 10 minutes walk away, rather than tangling with the narrow streets and underground parking near the hotel.

Initial welcome was a little offhand, but otherwise all was fine.

Some reviews mention the hard beds. Our bed was remarkably hard, which we found no problem at all.
