“Simplicity is everything”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

Rafas is a small place with less than 20 seats indoor and in the summer some tables outside.
At the time for El Bulli Rafas was the place where the owner of El Bulli was said to go for a meal at times. All the food is grilled in oil and salt and Rafas serve basically only seafood. A place not to miss out on.

Reviewed June 9, 2013

very fresh seafood cooked simply and very good, The service is good, nice sitting on the terrace and the owners are friendly and there's no rush just sit back and enjoy the locally caught fresh daily fish. I ate things Ive never seen before and enjoyed everything. definitely worth a try

“À must for fish lovers, very good fish but pricey and a bit plain for other”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

Nice small restaurant, with RAFA behind the stove (not the other RADA!). Only fish, extra fresh, no menu. Fish cooked very simply without accompaniment. Calamaris excellent, we had San Pedro very good but would have like a little touch of something with it. Nice ambiance small place.

“Excellent fish. Pricey but worth it.”
Reviewed May 15, 2013 via mobile

You'd think that Rosas, having an active fishing port, would be bursting with great fish restaurants - but you'd be wrong. There are actually only a handful of good places to eat nice fresh fish and Rafas is one of them

Rafas ( the discrete sign on the wall calls it 'RhodeRosesRafa' - see photo) is located in one of the pedestrianised streets set back from the main road along the seafront and is surrounded by 'Menu por €16' restaurants. So the three of us could all have eaten elsewhere for the price of one at Rafas. But we'd have missed out on excellent food.

I went along with two Catalans, one of whom was very reluctant to try it out as she's very selective and picky about the quality of her food. She was in for a surprise and was full of praise at the end - particularly for the starters - although a little critical if the John Dory which was over salted for our tastes. The monk fish was lovely to eat too but also slightly oversalted -but that's typical in Spain so it's wise to preempt this when ordering.

Apart from the wine, there's no menu to review and no prices mentioned - the owner tells you what they have available the day. The selection of fish for main courses was very extensive and, to be honest, I didn't know many of them.

I'd very much recommend taking a broad selection of the starters as it's fun to enjoy in a group. We chose anchovies with bread and tomato , chipirones (baby squid) and caracoles de mar (sea snails) but there were also gambas (prawns ) and navajas (razor clams) . Photos attached.

Why just 4 stars instead of 5? Service was rather rushed with just two people waiting and then there was that over salted fish.

I'll certainly be back.

“Unbelievable experience”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

It is the best fish restaurant I ever been to. Great atmosphere. No menu no signs. You have to spend some time to find it. There is only fish with no nonsense. The owner is preparing food in front of you chatting all the way. We had best anchovies and squid for starters and exquisite monkfish and sole for mains. Cant recommend highly enough. People who rated this restaurant with one star better go and eat in mac donalds
