Hotel Cala Sant Vicenc
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed September 27, 2012

All aspects of this hotel were very good, bordering on excellent. NO complaints whatsoever only praise to the managment and staff for running a comfortable hotel. Only suggestions would be to make use of the sun to warm the pool water later in the season and extend WIFI to all rooms, but who wants WIFI when you're there to relax! No on site parking, but the resort is generally quite and on street parking is adequate.

Room Tip: Junior suites, all with a balony, get sun later in the day and overlook the pool (except 107)

Another great holiday at Hotel Cala - our fourth visit. The staff and service are amazing - friendly, unstuffy but totally professional. Highly recommended for a relaxing holiday for adults. Great pool and garden area - plenty of space even though the hotel was fully occupied. Quiet, well soundproofed rooms with good air con. Superb buffet breakfast and poolside lunches. Good wifi for those surgically attached to their iphones or ipads. Hotel restaurant has a limited evening menu but the town has a couple of nice restaurants (esp Modesto which is a 10 minute walk). Pollensa is a 12 euro taxi journey and has plenty of nice restaurants and bars. A great place to stay if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday - excellent service without being pretentious. Weather was a bonus - 80 degrees with no rain, even tho it was well into September. Mallorcan wines an even bigger bonus - Mortitx Negre was extensively tested and highly recommended.

This hotel in the quiet resort of Cala Sant Vicenc is quite superb. The furnishings, facilities, service and our room were excellent. The only slight letdown to the hotel itself is that it has limited views and the restaurant terrace overlooks a road. The pool is well shielded with exotic vegitation. What stopped me giving 5 stars was the restaurant Cavall Bernat, which was described in our AA guide as 'one of the island's finest hotel/restaurants, with a well-drilled team of waiters'. We ate there three times and on each occasion were slightly disappointed. The worst was two undercooked portions of salmon. These were returned to the kitchen and returned to us as reheated part-eaten portions with a fresh sauce on and we suspect they had been swapped over! I can't believe any proper chef would do this. On another occasion our meal was excellent but the atmosphere was spoilt by complaints from two other tables, one couple leaving angrily due to the poor service. Hence only 4 stars, but would thoroughly recommend the hotel for a relaxing break.

Room Tip: Get a balcony overlooking the pool rather than the road.

Been vegetarian most of my life and never had a breakfast like it. Hot, cold whatever you liked nothing was too much bother and the choice on the cold buffet was fabulous. Staff wonderful and the beautiful Lynda is so friendly. Room 310 brilliant. First time for us and won`t be the last. Rooms spotless and staff great.
Thank you,
Agnes and Andy. (Scotland).

Room Tip: All rooms are great and balconies in every one.

Had 6 nights here at end of August/early Sept in a junior suite and it was still lovely, and extremely spacious, as you would expect. The staff are great, really friendly and go out of their way to help. Breakfast is excellent, both the buffet and the freshly cooked and it's lovely that each table is given a jug of freshly squeezed orange juice. The hotel, pool and grounds are all spotlessly clean and well maintained. The pool is not heated so, if you are there (as we were) after a rather inclement week, then prepare for a very fresh dip indeed.

The restaurant has a tasting menu on 2 nights each week and this was very good - as far as I am aware, this and also their a la carte menu is the closest you will get to fine dining in CSV. The tasting menu evenings are popular, however we also ate here on another evening and, although the food was still very good, the restaurant was extremely quiet and lacking in atmosphere, and they persist in playing absolutely terrible music, quite loudly. I'm wondering whether the two things are connected - that people are put off by the music? I made the same comment to the hotel when we were there earlier in the year - it just isn't appropriate to be (quite loudly) playing hits from the 50s, 60s or soft rock over dinner (and breakfast). I really hope they pay attention to this as it would certainly put me off dining there if we went back. Please fix this HCSV, and it will be almost perfect.

The resort does look a little tired in places, as another reviewer says, but it is still a lovely, tranquil place that is easy to walk around and has a good selection of places to eat and drink.

Room Tip: Speak to Lynda if you have specific requirements about your room, she is extremely helpful.

Fiine in many ways is a very positive word. Hotel very clean. Breakfast actually what you would see in a 5 star hotel. Very impressive!! Staff very nice. My room was EXTRAORDINARILY small. It was like an episode of the borrowers! The hotel has many return visitors and they will do that because they have had great memories. For me it was just a tad bland/ unimpressive. Think the resort itself felt tired and maybe that contributed. Now nearby Son Brull was just a different kettle of fish, but with a different price tag too!!!!

I was a bit unsure in the first place but then I booked 5 nights at Cala San Vincenc Hotel, and there was literally nothing to regret!

Very, very nice, friendly and supportive staff (really I am travelling a lot but this was an outstanding experience, also compared too much more expensive hotels I have been at), the rooms very clean and properly equipped, nice pool and fitness area and all in all back very relaxing atmosphere. Not the posh style of some places but still luxurious to a reasonable extent, I felt very privileged but still in real life, a very nice mixture.

If you stay here you can enjoy very good food in the restaurant, also there are alternative places around. A special tip is an restaurant called Modesto, which is in 5 minutes walking distance which does very nice food and particularly nice steaks for a reasonable price. Also the hotel to make a reservation in the busy season.

Unfortunately my wife couldn't join me so I travelled alone, but I will come back and take her to exactly this place, she will love it!
