I quite liked the walk in the old aqueduct, even though it is in great need of some attention. There's lots of trash lying around and the plants are drying. It has the potential to be a gorgeous place.

Good if your out a walk we always go a walk up the hill past the tofinis hotel apartments and turn left at the top which will bring you back to Ayia Napa on the back road towards the aqueduct where you can cut in the trail which brings you down below the aqueduct and close near the centre of town, just be careful if (girls) out walking the top road as told by hotel owner and we seen our selfs guy hanging about sometimes and we were told it can be dangerous as we seen sometimes guy watching girls out running. Just be careful and for itself the aqueduct was fine.

Its a pity to say that despite the lack of points of interest in Ayia Napa, this middle age monument is abandoned and left to its destiny.
We say that our culture is measured on how we respect our historical monuments. In that case we missed the point completely. How pity!

In its present state aqueduct is from Frankish times, when the Monastery of Ayia Napa was built and the old roman aqueduct was renovated and modified for bearing water from the water-source in mountains nearby to the Monastery. Aqueduct is well-planned and water run naturally, there are 2 rock-cut cleaning-reservoirs for water on its way for collecting heavy dirt.
Aquedukt is not very spectacular, but is interesting and looks really nice in the night when all backlighting in the park is on.

This is really worth seeing. It is the restored aqueduct that supplied water to the monastery in Ayia Napa from the 1500's. It probably replaced an earlier Roman one you can read all about it at

It is a nice walk up from opposite the New Famagusta hotel and comes out near the Epiphious church which is also well worth visiting. Marvel at how the engineers used the contours of the land to deliver water from the hills towards Protaras to Ayia Napa.
