“Great hotel ..great holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

Fabulous hotel - we had a junior garden suite was great with fantastic views..food was fantastic...service was brilliant...fab pools ....downside Thomson's representation In the hotel was appalling ..unprofessional holiday advisors ...shockingly poor entertainment ..hotel organised some professional acts which were really good.i can not fault the hotel but Thomson's do need to get that act together...would definitely go again but not through Thomson's.

We wanted a hotel that had separate adult & children sleeping arrangements; a good pool near to the beach and preferably with some sort of children's entertainment. This hotel ticked all the boxes.

We travelled with Thompson.

Initially our room had a very small bathroom; then a kitchen arrangement; a small wall, then a small double bed; then opaque sliding doors with two sofa / single beds, then a terrace. This wasn't quite what we had expected. On our first night, by chance we bumped into the lovely hotel manager who was concerned about our stay and he showed us a room which didn't have a kitchen, but did have a completely separate bedroom - we moved rooms and enjoyed a wonderful weeks rest.

There is 1 large "activity" pool with a pool bar which is up near the garden accommodation and two more pools in front of the main hotel and an indoor pool. All were cleaned daily and had plenty of loungers.

The food at the hotel was excellent; one of the best all inclusive's we have been to. Great choice every night. There was never an issue getting a table, the staff cleared the tables within seconds and were all very polite and friendly.

Kids club's for Thomson and TUI are in different places and evening entertainment provided by both Thomson / TUI. Tea-time live was good fun for the kids and we preferred the show's put on by the entertainment team than the acts brought in which ranged from average to woeful.

The beach is well worth a visit, you'd need to pay for loungers but the sea was warm, waves great for jumping around and a good selection of water activities if you wanted it.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Two small niggles. The bathrooms are tiny, much too small for the size room and reserving the loungers. Why oh Why is this (a) allowed and (b) necessary.

On one morning when I couldn't sleep I looked out the window and ALL the loungers I could see round the pool had been reserved by a towel - it was 6.00 in the morning people!! Very strange behaviour - people who do this - you know who you are - can I recommend putting the alarm clock away and take a breath, relax, and chill out.

This is a great FAMILY hotel, perfect for families with children who were under 11.

Room Tip: Garden rooms near the activity pool would be a good choice. One bedroomed Junior Suites are perfect...

Just got back from another FANTASTIC stay @ this hotel !!
Room 718 was brilliant with outstanding views of the sea and harbour couldn't have asked for more. Room was spotlessly clean and we had maid service and clean towels everyday. Safety deposit box in room was only £25 euros for 2 weeks BARGAIN!!! Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful and the manager Nicos was very professional meeting and greeting people throughout the day. Bar staff run by nedko were very efficient. Food was outstanding there was something for everybody. Would definitely go back to this hotel and would recommend anybody to stay as this is the best hotel we have stayed in. Harris Family Room 718.

Room Tip: Seaview bungalows a definite must you have to pay extra but it's well worth it.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2013

We stayed in the Atlantica for 14 nights from 14th Aug – 29th Aug 2013.
There were 3 of us in our family – 2 adults and an 8yr old….
..2 other adults and a further 3 kids (6,8 &9) completed our party.
The main reason for the trip was our friends were getting married there.

Airport – Hotel.
No issues – 45mins transfer. Nice welcome from the hotel staff and they took our luggage to our room.

Room
We stayed in a Junior Suite. This compromised of a bath\shower room (decent size…), kitchenette (never used!) and a main double bed.
There then was a separated twin bed area which led to the sun terrace.
This was lovely – very spacious with ample room for a couple of sun loungers 4 chars and a table…
The view was amazing…. 180 degree view of the sea\beach.

Pools
There are a couple of outdoor pools and an indoor pool (not used !)
There is a “quiet” pool with a separated infinity pool area for adults only – but we let our kids go in there as long as they did not splash or make a noise (they were not in there for long)
The other pool is the “activity” pool which is where we spent most of our time.
The music is at just the right volume so you can speak and have a conversation without it disturbing you.
There are plenty of sunbeds, however there were people putting towels on the beds before 6:30AM !! (we did not need to – however I understand if you have young children it is easier to be close to the pool edge !)

Food \Drink
Cant complain about the food at all. The restaurant manager will shake your hand at every meal and if you are no happy with anything, will do what he can to ensure you are happy.
One of our party asked if they could have one of the lunch meals put by for evening – and he just got the chief to make some up. (they also did the same for my daughter)
They have “speciality” nights, such as Chinese, fish, bbq, Italian and Greek; all lovely. Our favourite was the bbq beef… but keep an eye out for vine leaves, apple pie & custard and the lovely swordfish.
You are also entitled to 1 visit to the a-la-carte area, where you get waited on and can pick from a set menu…. Again lovely.
TIP – book early !!
The drinks are all local… the Keo beer was OK and the wine took some getting used to – but again was OK 
I stuck to the Vodka & mixer, when they get to know how you like your drinks they do remember (as I do like mine quite strong !!)
There is also a dress code of no vests in the restaurants…. So pack plenty of T-Shirts !!

Staff.
Now this is where I cannot praise the hotel enough.
Everyone from the cleaning staff, restaurant waiters\waitresses (Andreas, Yannis, Bernadette etc..), receptionists, pool bartenders (Daniel & co) and even the hotel manager Nicos, all work extremely hard to ensure you have whatever you want.
We would like to extend our thanks to all the hotel staff that looked after us in our 2 week there.

Kids Clubs \ Reps
The is where our expectations were again exceeded.
For our 8 year old to be in tears as she leaves the arms of M&M(Emma) just goes to prove how much she loved being in the company of the Thompson kids clubs reps.
Each of them went the extra mile to ensure the kids in our party were fully catered for.
Other special thanks goes to “Diva Dan”, “Happy Helen”, “Candy Kate”, “Ravin Ryan”, “Bobby” and all the others who made not only our kids happy, but gave the adults peace of mind so we could relax 

Entertainment
The shows from 7:30-9:30ish were put on by the reps, and from 9:30ish either the reps did a show or they brought in an act from outside.
To be honest – the reps shows were better than the special guests (although the magician was good !)
The reps looked to be having fun on stage and enjoyed dragging a few of us the participate.
TIP – get up there and have fun… You get to know the reps and they get to know you.

Fitness..
There is a gym on site. It is split into 2 areas. A cardio area with a few weight machines and a separate room with free weights \ smiths machine etc..
It never got that busy – max I saw was 3 people in at any one time so I did not have to wait long for any equipment.
What they do offer though is a daily fitness programme. (ranging from Zumba to a basic aerobc workout)
This was run by Sporty Sally (Anastasia)– who is fantastic. She does her best to get you involved and is a great laugh !!

Excursions
We did 3.
The Black Pearl- extremely expensive (70 Euro for the 3 of us) but had to be done for the kids. They did love it though.
TIP – Take your own drinks (and food – the hotel can provide you a packed lunch) – it will save you some cash !
The water park.. again – very expensive (90Euro) . But definitely worth it if you have kids over 1.2m tall !! (smaller kids will not get on all the slides)
TIP – Get there early (10AM).
The Yellow Submarine. Loved it (20Euro for the 3 of us) !!! It is only 90mins long, but the diver (Yoghi) is a great laugh and was great with the kids. We stopped at the caves just in front of the hotel and he took us all for a swim inside them. Brilliant !

Nappa
The main drag is about 15-20min stroll away and it costs 8Eruo in a taxi.
TIP- Get a cab to the harbour if you have kids, have a look around and then walk back along the beach !
There also seems to be a large influx of eastern European \ Russian people to the area – not a problem a tourist would notice, but was definitely an issue when speaking to some of the locals !

Beach.
To get to the beach – it is a 5min walk down the steps and along the wooden pathway.
TIP – Get face mask and snorkel and check out the fish near the rocks….
We also did the ringos (15 Euro Each), JetSki (60Euro for 2 people) and the Paragliding (70Euro for 3) – all very expensive. So take this into account if you have a budget !

Anything else….
It gets VERY hot….. take plenty of sun cream as it is very expensive out there !!

Thanks - Spen, Lo and Bailey xx

Room Tip: We had a Junior Suite... 180 Degree view of the sea... and plenty of room for 3 or 4.

Our family has just returned from a lovely hot week in Cyprus at the Atlantica Sun Garden in Ayia Napa. We visited this hotel 4 years ago and nothing has changed which is both positive and slightly negative. The staff remain the friendliest we have ever known, and are accommodating at all times. Special mention to Yiannis one of the restaurant Maître D’s. The food is great, not fantastic but being a family of four who are in no way fussy but have healthy appetites, we couldn’t fault it’s freshness and it being well prepared. The drinks offered as part of the All Inclusive deal are acceptable also. The pools are clean and well kept. Unfortunately, the only time they seem to be a bit untidy and grubby is when the inconsiderate guests of the hotel leave their rubbish lying around! Towel/sun bed bagging is the norm as found around all hotels of this type – get up early or go really late and grab your fave place! The only downside we found with the hotel, which is echoed in other postings is that the rooms and some of the public areas could do with updating but this is not to say that they weren’t kept beautifully clean. The air con leaves a bit to be desired but again I think this is to do with it being old systems. Don’t bother going into Aiya Napa. We decided to go and do a bit ‘tat’ shopping and literally were out of the taxi for 20 mins before we headed back to the hotel. It’s the embarrassing archetypal brits abroad place. T-shirts being sold with blatant swear word logos and the strip club jeeps driving around. Not nice to take a 9 and 12 year old. The shop outside the hotel entrance is good enough to get your souvenirs and inflatables etc. The Waterpark is good value for money, as are the jet skis and fun inflatables at the beach. The views of this hotel are fantastic and the gardens are beautiful.

Room Tip: Definitely upgrade to a junior garden suite.

we have just returned from this hotel and all in all this is an excellent hotel . it is a hotel for familys which is run like it is a family owned hotel , all the staff from the management to the waitresses are very pleasant , well mannered and go out of their way to engage with you , say hello and help make your stay a pleasant one .
the rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels and we had a our own sunbeds on our balcony which overlooked the activity pool and the sea ( garden suite ) .
the only two slight negatives i could give are our air conditioning was not as cool as i would have liked , but it was extremely hot and humid the two week we stayed and sunbeds by the pool were difficult to come by . this wasnt helped by a couple of familys proudly claiming they got up at 5am to claiming the same full row everyday and then usually just using half of them , this however is not the hotels fault as i realise due to the lay out of the hotel it would be hard to stop , just a bit sad imo of the people concerned .
would i reccomened this hotel to any other familys ? the answer is yes no problem at all , infact it would be hard to beat .

Room Tip: garden suite upper level overlooking the busy pool with sea view .

This is our 4th consecutive family holiday at Sungarden. It's no coincidence that we have had an excellent holiday each time. It is a very well managed hotel, with excellent food and very friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff in particular the manager and restaurant manager who make you feel very welcome. All boxes ticked from what we want from a family holiday. Great hotel!
