Having been to Ayia Napa already, a small group of us decided to go back because it’s so amazing! We booked a hotel with the twentys, they change every year, the year before we went to the Iphigenia hotel ( read my review on it ) but it wasn’t in there so we chose a different Twentys hotel. To our disbelief the DAY before we left they told us we had to move to a different hotel : the Kkaras. Being really angry at first we thought our holiday would be ruined by some random hotel, and to be honest if it weren’t for once group of boys we met we would have been there on our own.. ** BUT AFTER REALISING THE SAME HAPPENED TO A GROUP OF FRIENDS OF OURS!! Booked from the same travel agents a group of boys that we happened to be friends with got also got moved to the Kkaras a few days before flying. After a breif chat with them on the phone they said they had a good time and it did ease our worries... BUT it makes me wonder do these companies overbook certain hotels on purpose just to get more people to go and get more money? Something to think about!!! Not that it’s the hotels fault but the evidence seems to be pointing at first choice, as it happened to 2 groupd within a month of eachother! ** - The actual hotel wasn’t that bad, compared to our previous visit the rooms were better qualityin some ways. Even though we had an open plan room, with 4 beds and a bathroom, the beds were comfy, there was a tv and the bathroom was really clean and modern. The maid came most days if i can remember and it wasn’t as dirty as we had previously experienced. It was a B&B until 10am so it was handy with a hangover, we always got there at about 9.55am and they still gave us breakfast. The hotel owners are Greek ( I think ), they seem really chatty and really nice, they do make you feel welcome. We were dissapointed with the pool, it wasn’t that big and it was the same depth all the way along. The area around the pool was all paved and seemed to have random shaded areas everywhere, so luckily because it wasn’t busy we could choose where to sunbathe and move the beds around, if it was busy i can imagine people being stuck with the shaded areas.. The bar wasn’t 24 hour which was a bummer being on a clubbing holiday, after having a 24 hour bar before going to not having one makes you realise how handy it was. There is no kitchen area in the rooms, neither there was a frigde, we had to ask for one and they tried to charge us for it. After ringing back up our friends who previously stayed her they said THEY HAD A FRIDGE FOR FREE.. We complained and told the rep and he sorted it out for us.. which was really cool of him. Also because we had been moved and we were literally the only young people in the hotel apart from another group of boys the rep gave us all the twentys tickets for free, which must have mounted up to at least 150 euros each. It was only a 5 min walk from the strip, but it was the end where all the clubs are, from my own personal experience it’s good to work your way up the other end of the strip, you won’t get hassled by all the people giving out flyers, and the smaller bars try and get you to come in so give you FREE shots. It’s a really cheap night if you do it this way. On our way home our flight was late at night, but there were private showers at the pool side and even plugs and a mirror to get ready, so we chilled until the bus picked us up which wasn’t as bad as we thought it would be! Like I said in my previous review of Ayia Napa a trip to Nissi beach is needed! It’s stunning with white sand and blue clear water, there’s loads of water sports there too and bars you can have snacks. It’s a 5 min taxi ride though so be prepared to fork out a couple of euros to get there, but it’s worth it. Also the water park is awesome! Around 10 – 15 euros to get there, awsome for a day out and you really catch the sun so go towards the end of your hol to top up your tan. To summarise, good points - the staff were really nice, the B&B was really handy, the rooms were clean and the bathroom was nice ( nothing spectacular but nice for a twentys holiday ), location was only 5 min walk from the strip, and we had showering facilites to get ready before we got picked up on the way home. Bad points – there was no kitchen area in the room and they tried to charge us for a fridge, the pool isn’t deep and the sunbathing area seemed to be scattered at random, you come out at the END of the strip not the begining, which is my own personal preferance, it’s still a good location. Overall if you are with good friends you will have a good time, i still miss Ayia Napa and i will never forget the holidays i’ve had there. This wasn’t the nightmare of all hotels but I’m giving an honest review so you can judge for yourselves.. Thanks for reading, Ellie x
