Christabelle Hotel Apartments
Ranked #58 of 102 Hotels in Ayia Napa
Reviewed July 15, 2012

Travelled with 8 other girls in July 2012, we expected the worst but when we arrived at the hotel every thing was amazing.
Arrived at around midnight and were checked in within about 10 minutes. Got given rooms 120, 121 and 127. All studios and so much better than anything we expected, very clean and had everything that we needed. Room 120 has a king balcony and is the one and only place for pre drinks! Get the air con!! Was so hot without it, 49 euros for the week and definitely worth it. Didn't bother with the safe because they were all kept in reception and as we were on the top floor we felt our stuff was pretty safe, nothing got stolen.
Went straight out on the first night, less than a 5 minute walk to the strip. Bombarded by club reps trying to sell us deals, just say no! Felt a bit lost at first but we soon settled in a bar and managed to get good deals between 9 of us.
Would definitely recommend Monkey Business and Square Bar! Both amazing, 6 euros for two cocktails, a shot and a fishbowl! All the bars close about 2 and everyone goes to the clubs. All of them are pretty expensive to get in and for drinks, Starskys defo my fave. 10/15 euros entry to most of the big clubs and drinks between 5 and 10 euros. If you survive the night then go to River reggae or Aqua which are the after parties and finish about 8/9am.
Expected the pool to be rowdy and busy but it never got too full and always managed to get sunbeds. Food around the pool was good and cheap and 2 for 1 cocktails! All of the staff were really friendly and dealt with all the drunk people well. Maids came to clean the room most days and happily cleaned up our drunken mess from the night before. There's a supermarket just by reception and has everything that you will need for the week.
Loads of places to eat in the square and nearer the beach. The best food by far was the pollo pizza, I already miss it. 2 euros for a slice, I would recommend getting a whole pizza. Snapy's is also good for drunk food on the way home, especially the "drumpsticks".
Seriously ignore all the bad reviews, this hotel and Ayia Napa are AMAZING.
Already planning to go again next year to the same hotel because we miss everything so much!

I stayed at the Christabelle July 2012. As soon as we got there it took us 30 mins to speak to someone at reception (being 10:30 at night we just wanted to dump our bags and get out to the bars). When we got escourted to our room it is exactly what we thought it would be - as this was not a relaxing holiday but a clubbing one. It was an old room, with basic facilities and an inch for a matress (but then who plans on sleeping?). The colour of our room was mouldy green - and us girls swore that if we ever saw that colour again we would puke. The maids came and cleaned our room on the rare occassion during our two week stay.
I came home early one night (being approx 2am) as i needed to catch up on sleep - well let me tell you I had no chance as I ended up drinking with the neighbours till my friends came back. DONT GO TO THIS PLACE IF YOU WANT TO SLEEP!!!!
If you want aircon you have to pay for it. We had it for the first week, but didnt bother with the second as it was utter crap!
In the mornings GET UP and reserve your sunbed, otherwise you will not get one untill 4:30pm. If you dont its not the end of the world as they have a small paddling pool which is quite nice to chill in with a beer. The pool is reletively clean - but dont try and go in it after hours or you may be faced with being kicked out like a random person did during our stay.
Bar staff are funny and helpful also serving snacks till 12pm but are still on tap if you bowl in before 2am...
Perfect place if you want remote access to the nightlife as its within a 5 minute walk!
The beach is a short taxi drive away costing no more the 15 euros and the water sports there are definatly worth checking out. If you try and walk it you will die in the heat unless your up at the crack of dawn! overall i would give this hotel 2 stars - I was there as little as i could be !!!

If I were to go to ayia napa again I would not stay here. There is a hotel just outside ayia napa that costs 6 euros to get to and back from the nightlife at night and a twenty minute drunken walk home if you wish (but taxis are safe out there) called pannas village. This hotel is lovely, clean, fantastic air con, amazing food, ice cream and delcious cocktails and its quiet so when you want to sleep you can, and soo close to nissi beach! My friends who stayed here actually paid £200 less then what we paid to stay at christabelle. I'd easily give it a four star.

Bars to check out when your here are definatly Barcode, SA pub, Bedrock, Starkeys and ICE. I would recommend to stay away from Castle club. It is a hole and they charge wayy to much!

The room has air condition with extra charge. If you want just a place to sleep is a very good choice.

Apartments were basic but clean and had everything we needed for a short stay, 3 nights.
Pool area and bar were upto a basic standard. Bar opening times were early to late and all bar staff were friendly. The area around the hotel had a variety of eating and drinking places.
The Three Lions pub has a very good food menu from an English family and the all day Sunday Lunch was excellent. Situation of the hotel was good for travelling about the surrounding area.
Only draw back was a group of 18 to 21 year old from Scandinavia, who were enjoying themselves at the expense of other guests. Loudly and early mornings.

WARNING: Do not go to this hotel! We stayed at Christabelle in july 2011, and we've never had a worse hotel experience during several years of travelling. The room we were given was located across the street from the reception and pool where you won't be able to have a proper nights sleep, due to wild drunk partying youngsters knocking on your door, crashing chairs, tables and throwing bottles in the hallway in the middle of the night! We didn't have a night of sleep for an entire week! (I can only imagine this would have been even worse if we were given a room around the pool area).

This hotel is definately not recommended for families, and the travel agencies should inform customers of this fact. Relaxing at the pool was not an option, since there was NEVER a moment of silence. People were screaming, pushing each other in the pool, throwing stuff at each other and behaving very inappropriately. It seemed the hotel was ruled by drunk youngsters, and not the hotel staff which were left unable to control all the drunks, though they tried. The pool was filthy since they were pouring bear in it, and one even threw up while in the pool!! absolutely DISGUSTING! Not to mention the loud music from the pool bar, which was never turned off. After a night at christabelle we called our travel agency to get transfered to another hotel. We had booked for two weeks, but stayed there for only one, as we were transfered to a hotel in Protaras having to pay even more!

The rooms were filthy as well, floors were "cleaned" with brown water and the extra beds were impossible to sleep on. Sleeping on a matress on the floor was better than those socalled beds. We had to buy soap and toilet paper ourselves, since the hotel didn't provide enough. The air conditioner which we payed for, could only be turned on at the reception, which they never did on time, and when it was turned on, the air never got cold! Pretty much all of the people at the reception were somehow rude/snobbish, and seemed as if they'd rather be somewhere else. The cleaning ladies, the bartender and the guy who fixed things around the hotel, were all very nice though.

The location of the hotel is another big minus. It's located in the upper part of Ayia Napa, surrounded by several closed shops and restaurants, looking very much like an abandoned ghost town, with very very BAD lighting! The hotel is far away from the main strip with shops and restaurants down at the beach, and the road from the hotel down to the main strip should also be lit up much better. This hotel is below normal standards and should be taken off the market. It can't be recommended for families nor anyone looking for a relaxing vacation. Do NOT waste your money or time, at this hotel. If you've already booked a trip to this hotel, I would advice you to change it if possible.

Rooms: have quite a simple design, but clean and spacious and with quite a big balcony.
Location: it is a 5 min walk from the Square where all the nightlife is booming, so very convenient. In order to get to the beach (e.g. Nissi) you will need to drive or get a cab (around 8 eur one way). But remember that in Ayia Napa it is either the beach which is close, either the nightlife - one hotel can't be both, so think about what is more important for you when booking.
Breakfast: decent, simple, English or continental.
Sleep quality: can be a bit noisy in the evenings when hotel visitors start to celebrate their holiday at the pool area or on the balconies, but nothing excessive.
Reception: helpful, speaks English without problems.
All in all, value for money, 3 stars let it be

Stayed here with 2 friends in October this year and would absolutely not recommend this hotel to anyone ever! First clue was that the rep does not even travel to this hotel for a welcome meeting. Quiet or not, some time should be set aside from reps for this.
On arrival we noticed no toaster or iron were available in a self catering apartment so had to go ask for them. We have stayed in basic rooms before but this was well below average and was grubby and dirty and as for the brown water running from the taps.....we complained at reception and were told by a technician that if we left the water running it would eventually run clear and that it was just because there had been no one staying in the room. 7 days later it was still running brown! We couldn't even open the balcony door as the first time I did the handle came off in my hand.
The pool and pool area were quite good and clean and the barman who worked throughout the day was very friendly and helpful but as for the barman who works at night..he really needs an attitude change if the owners want people to continue to stay at their hotel as he was more interested in looking after the staff who were sitting in the pool bar than the customers staying in the hotel having a drink in the bar.
There is also short road from the hotel to the main road which really needs to be lit up better.
Location of the hotel was okay but there are a few hotels in closer to the main area that would most likely suit better,
All in all I will not be recommending this hotel to anyone!!!!!!
