“Not a great property but great location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2009

We booked our holiday with Irish Budget travel on a last minute basis and were frankly quite worried about staying in this property after reading the reviews...
All in all it wasn't the worst, even though at first I was a bit disgusted with the bathroom especially... It is a very basic and budget hotel indeed. The lobby and public areas are not bad, it's the rooms that beg for renovation. Our bathroom was awful, very dark and musty, but after couple of days you just don't care anymore... The rooms are good size, very basic with old furniture but you won't be spending much time there anyway, so don't worry! I believe each rooms has a nice terrace/ balcony which is great, you also have a small kitchenette with fridge, cooker, sink, few utensil and plates, a table with chairs. The rooms are kept very clean, we were also lucky and didn't have any ants or other 'visitors'. A couple we met in the hotel were saying they had loads of ants in their apartment when they arrived and they were quickly moved to another room and the hotel staff provided them with some spray to kill all the insects. The staff at the hotel are friendly and helpful and quick to sort you out if any problems. The pool is not bad, even has a kiddies area (separate) but it's usually very full with noisy, drunk people - i would definitely recommend the harbour beach rather than staying at the pool all day. A great thing about this property is the location - it's situated on Ayia Napa's main street, opposite the McDonalds and bus stops (if you're planning any trips). There's few good shops with all 'resort' stuff that you may need- just on the other side of the street from the hotel main entrance (good range of foods, fresh milk, fruit etc for breakfast; alcohol, beach towels, sunblockers, beach bags, literally all you need when on holiday). Also lots of bars & restaurants nearby, 'The Square' area for partying is maybe 5-10 minute walk up the hill, the harbour beach is again 10-15 min walk from the property. The hotel also has its own karaoke bar which is supposed to be quite good, however we never tried it for some reason, always headed up the hill or towards the harbour for drinks...
All in all it is a rather ok value property with good potential. If you're booking your accommodation yourself you probably won't book it, but if you booked it through travel agent without checking first - don't panic! apparently there are a lot more worse places in Ayia Napa than Anthea, you'll survive:)

Had the best holiday...when i first read the reviews i was panicking about stayin here...but i dont know what every1 was crying and complaining about...its in the best location rooms r basic but clean and the cleaners were in most days...sure thats all u want on a holiday as long as its clean and it definitley is, u spend most of ur time outside anyways!!
the only thing is the bells ringin from the mosque place behind the anthea...dependin wat room u get it, we were at the very back so we heard them loud and clear a good few mornings but u get over it!
night life was unbelievable and its only a 2min walk 2 the square from the anthea happy days!! castle club, the titanic, the luke kellys loved em all!!
only bad thing i have 2 say is that is quite expensive, but ur on holidays :) enjoy it while it lasts!!

My boyfriend and I are just back from Ayia napa and we were quite anxious about what awaited us. The apartments are well located with two pools, and a bar but there isnt a restaurant. We were allocated a room on arrival but when we got into our room the balcony door lock was broken and wouldnt lovk, We changed rooms without much hassel. Our apartments although spacious was extremely basis and was not the A CLASS as advertised by our travel agent. The kitchenette consists of a sink and two ring hob. THere was no draining board or counter for preping food. It really wasnt suitable for cooking. There also werent dishcloths/drying cloths, or soap etc. The decor was very drab but the room was clean and housekeeping was regular (6 days out of 7).

There are two pool areas which are very nice and plenty of loungers although there was a culture of putting towels out at night to save loungers which was not discouraged. There was a bar which was a karaoke bar at night and was quite loud. The main strip of bars were on the hill behind and were very loud at night.

The beach is lovely and the harbour area generally, with lots of bars, shops and places to eat. It is quite an expensive resort, bars, restaurant and the supermarket were similar/more expensive than at home. It is really a place aimed at the young nightlife seeking traveller. If you dont want to party until 5am i wouldnt recommend this resort, although it was early in the season when we stayed I think it would get a lot worse.

We are not overly picky when it comes to accomidation but I would not recommend this accomidation to families, couples or anyone who is looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday.

I have tried to give a fair review but overal it is basic, bland, noisy and busy apartment complex and I wouldnt recommend it to anyone other than party happy teens.

on arrival at 9pm we found that there was no water at all so we couldn't freshen up. it's self catering but only had a mini hob, kettle and toaster, no microwave.
the sofa felt like it was falling apart, the beds move accross the floor when you roll over, let alone want to get 'friendly'
complained about the water but then the hot was only luke warm, had to complain again.
3 days to get the water sorted is disgusting.
found 2 inch cockroaches in the room, yuk!
sunbeds are like rocks, poolside drinks are 1.90 for water, 3.10 for cola/sprite.
outside the balcony was a huge tree, so no sun got to it, but as we were looking to the road all we got was a moped/dune buggy hire company jetwashing and revving engines all day so we didnt want to sit out there anyway.
overall we found ayia napa to be over priced, there are no proper supermarkets to buy food in, you need to go up towards paralimni to the carrefour as in ayia napa they want 2.40 for a can of drink, 2.90 for spaghetti, etc.
the drinks up at the square are all WATERED DOWN, and the free shots are from local suppliers, we found a shop selling a bottle for 3 euros, so that tells you everything.
souvenirs are way too pricey and the restaurants are expensive.

Me and a friend stayed in these apartments a few years ago. We got there quite late at night and was given directions into our room which was in an annexe bit. It was quite dark round there and the side not facing the pool / hotel was abit secluded.
We went to the beach most days which is a short walk away. We was abit put off by the appearance of the pool area. When we went it looked nothing like the photo's in the brochures! The locations great for the pubs and clubs, a very short walk but not near enough to be kept awake every night, perfect location really.
The room was abit dirty looking. We noticed the cleaners a few times, bringing clean towels etc but it looked very grubby. The walls had numerous stains on and the bedding was clean but with old stains which was slightly off putting. The kitchen area wasn't bad although we did have an ant family crawling up and down one part of the wall! And when we came to pack ready to go home we opened up one of the suitcases to find a cockroach in there!

we went for a 1 week stay at this hotel and found that it was filthy, uncomfortable and totaly outdated. There were cockroaches in the bedroom the furniture was trashed and not replaced no kettle , no toaster and the place was a complete shambles. We moved out and found alternative accomodation. DO NOT GO THERE.

I have stayed at this hotel twice before, in 2005 and 2006. To be fair, I havent been in the last couple of years, but each time we went our stay was excellent. Rooms were basic, but big. Not far from all the main bars, but not close enough to be too noisy. Not far from the beach, a ten min walk which was pleasant enough to do each day. Has several pools so take your pick - busier pools for the kids and quiet ones for couples. Nice staff and a good atmosphere. I would happily stay here again. Again, basic but spacious rooms but you dont spend all your holiday in your room when its red hot outside so it suited me down to the ground.
