Ayia Napa was great, this hotel definately wasnt. Very dirty, noisy, leaking ceiling, no maid for 4 days, our door was left open (anyone could have gone in), no microwave, oven, toaster, bowls, unhelpful receptionists. The list goes on. Just look @ my pictures, they say it all & i have plenty more horrible pictures.

Six of us stayed there in June 2008 we had 3 apartments. On arrival the apartments were dirty don't think the bathroom floors had ever been mopped. Our shower head was held together with selotape.Daughters bed spread was mouldy, none of us had any towels, we had no kettle and there were no toilet rolls. The towels were ony changed once whilst we were there also the bins were only emptied once we had to take our rubbish to the bins in the street. Air conditioning was expensive. One of the bed settees was filthy we couldn't even sit on it. In the evening we sat on my grandaughters balcony watching rats running up the wall and across the roof tops. There was black fungus round the kitchen sink and bath and shower curtain could almost stand up on its own.The staff were to say the least most unhelpful also they didn't tell us we had to fill in a complaint form at the complex so when I complained when we got home I was just told you should have filled in a form at the resort. Our complaints are many, but I will just say it's the dirtiest place I have stayed at and the most unhelpful.

After reading the reviews on here and on the Thomson web site i have to say i was dreading my holiday. However, arriving in Ayia Napa after travelling over 10 hours (flight was delayed 5 hours) i was more than pleasantly surprised when dropped off at the Anthea. The foyer and receptions area is lovely and the reception staff r more than helpful. The apartments are pretty basic but kept spotlessly clean. Housekeepers were in everyday to make the beds and do a basic clean up and sheets and towels were changed every other day. Only problem we had was safety deposit boxes are located at reception and you have to keep traipsing up and down the stairs whenever you want your money. Pool area is young & lively and kept very clean and the food isn;t too bad either. Our apartment was situated over the main street and was a bit noisy but not too bad considering people had to pass our room to get to the square. I do recommend getting the air conditioning, you will definately need it though it is expensive at 6 euro per unit per day!!!! I would definately recommend the Anthea for young people looking a fantastic holiday and i would def stay there again myself!!

stayed at the anthea apts this year and they were grotty, smelly, dingy&depressing.definitely not what you expect when you pay hard earned money for a holiday.
the place had never seen a mop&the balconey was only cleaned once in2 weeks &there were rats running on the balconey&staff werent bothered when told about it.
the only saving grace is the beach&bars ideal location.
love cyprus&have been many times but the anthea is a disgrace &totally run down.
would not advise anyone to go to these apartments

We have just returned from Cyprus today..... Totally knackered.. I didn't have a problem with the appartments themselves, They were very clean, towels were changed every other day, sheets changed twice and the beds made daily.. The food was great and the staff were great too.
Pool area spotlessly clean, bar area clean and good food. The music was loud and thumping, but what can you expect.
Only saw 1 baby cockroach, but I was bitten several times by midges...
Our problem was the noise.. The kids don't come 'home' till 4 in the morning and they start to party again... In the corridors, in their rooms, outside ..anywhere. We had a word with our rep (sally) and she was great, nipped it in the bud... Although our neighbours became a lot more quiet, the other people didnt. So all in all we were catching 2 hours kip, maximum.. BUT... this is a young persons resort, so this is normal. Other parts of Ayia Napa wouldnt be that noisy...
Also, right up to 6am the youngins are riding up and down on motor scooters, sounding their horns as they pass the young girls... Very noisey.
The beaches were fab, we went out on the yellow submarine...FANTASTIC... was only 10 euro and we had a ball, was able to swim through the caves with the divers, brillient...
We also took the trip to Egypt......This day starts at 4am, travel to the airport, geta flight to Cairo, then up to the Pyramids.. I am pleased I did it, but certainly wouldnt go back. The sellers outside the pyrimids actually take money from you.. If they take a picture for you, they will expect to be paid for it, or you may not get your camera back.. they are so pushy and I felt quite intimidated at one point.. They make you feel awful and say they need help to feed their children, rubbish, they are experts in getting your money. a few of us had money taken from us.... SO DONT TAKE YOUR PURSE OFF THE BUS, ITS SAFE THERE, THEN THEY CANT ROB YOU....Expect to have armed guards with you at all times too... Worth the money 230 euro, fully packed day, finish off with a trip down the nile... just watch your wallets....Oh and an Egyptian offered my family 15,000 camels, if I stayed with him..So if you want rid of the wife or girlfriend, its a treat !!!!!!!! only kidding, Im worth at least 20,000
I will go back next year as Cyprus is beautiful, but there are quieter hotels for our ages.. Sue 47 yrs, Heather 39yrs....

My husband and I have just returned from 7 nights stay at The Anthea (first week in June 08).
We were worried about our accomodation after reading some of the reviews already on this site but we must say that we were pleasantly surprised by the standards of the apartments.
The reception staff were very helpful and always pleasant - perhaps it's all in the approach. If you are nice to them they are nice back. We booked in after midnight and were shown to our room by the night porter. We were given a ground floor apartment beside the "quiet pool". The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was spotless.
The only thing wrong was the over blankets - they were smelly and stained. We didnt need them - it was roasting! The sheets were clean underneath. The maid came in every day to make the beds and empty the bins, etc. I think we got clean towels every other day. No ants or cockroaches to be seen.
Get the air con - you will need it! We had it for the bedroom only as it is expensive. The safety deposit boxes are located at reception and not in your room. We were worried but used one none the less with no problems.
A word of warning if you are staying with young children - the thermostat on the shower in our room had a mind of it's own. One minute the water is tepid and the next it is scalding.
The pools were nice - we spent our time at the quiet pool but went down to the lively pool for food and drinks during the day.
Things were still relatively quiet in Ayia Napa but by the end of the week the apartments and area were much busier as the summer season approached. The accomodation does attract a lot of young singles - expect to be woken up around 4am as they return from the clubs. There were some elderly people and quite a lot of families.
The main bar is a meeting point at night and does get busy.
The Square is a 10 minute walk away. There are many pubs and restaurants on the way there too. If you want a quiter night head down towards the harbour. The Napa Star always has evening entertainment. We often went there for breakfast too - great coffee! Try Fiji Restaurant - the food is amazing. You may have to book in advance over the summer months.
We visit Cyprus a lot but this is the first time we have been since they changed to the euro. Prices have gone through the roof. We spent an absolute fortune just on food and drink this time. Take plenty money! We noticed that the young groups/singles were staying in their apartments until the early hours having a drink and then going to clubs after to save money.
The harbour beach is a 10 minute walk or you can get a taxi along to Nissi Beach. Go to Water World if you can, It's a great way to spend a day.
All in all the holiday was great and we would stay at The Anthea again.

Me and my younger sister stayed at this so called "4 star hotel" in late august 07, as soon as we arrived there we was not impressed, very cheap looking, pool just looked skanky, our room wasnt that great either but we thought that we would bare with, I mean it wasnt like we were going to be in our room let alone the hotel most of the time.
We asked for a safety deposit box but were told they were all in use, so we locked everything up in our rooms, sadly 2 days later we came back from a night out to find out room had been broken in to, our locked hand luggage stolen, containing money, phones most importantly our passports.
the staf were very unhelpful and seemed to think it was our own fault that the room had been broken in to.
we had to spend another nite in the room with the broken door, we were very very scared.
we were moved to another room the next day which was a box room compared to the other one.
even though this happened we had a fantastic holiday and plan to return in august 08, but needless to say we will not return to this stink-hole of a hotel. PLEASE DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL AVOID LIKE THE PLAUGE!!!!!!!!! 4 STAR LOCATION NOT 4 STAR HOTEL
