Stayed at this hotel in August for 10 days with hubby and teenage daughter. Wasn't expecting much after reading reviews. We were pleasantly surprised. Checked in quickly and were soon in our room which was dark but this was due to curtains being closed to keep sun out. They only had to be open a fraction for the light and sun to stream in. Room was spacious and could have done with a bit of a spruce up but you can't expect redecoration after each guest has left! We had a lovely view of pool and sea. Balconies were open being made of railings but I feel that if they were filled in you would loose the lovely views. We could lie in bed and see the sea much better than a concrete wall! Cleaners came every day and did a good job. Food choices were a bit strange but there were other people there besides Brits and they had to be catered for also. Waiters and waitresses were attentive and smartly dressed. The hotel is well situated for the amenities in Ayia Napa and far enough away from the square for it not to be a problem. We did get woken up early one morning by girls shouting as they went to their room but hey they are on holiday as well! and it is Ayia Napa one of the party capitals for youngsters. The pool was brilliant and if gone to in the morning was quite. The afternoons were noisier and a lot of chatting up went on but we didn't find this a problem. We hired a car for a few days and had no trouble getting around as road system is easy to follow. We had a very enjoyable holiday although it was very hot!

Room Tip: Try and get one overlooking the pool as you get a sea view as well.

This was the eighth time my wife and i had stayed at the Anmaria and on every occasion before we really enjoyed a very relaxing holiday waited on by very attentive and friendly staff.Imagine our dissapointment to be told by the night porter that Thomas Cook are turning the Hotel into an 18 30 club and that we might not enjoy our holiday this year.
The hotel bedrooms are in need of a facelift although they are very clean and the cleaning staff very good. The pool area was as always clean and of course empty until two o clock in the afternoon then it did get busy but not overly so.I agree with previous comments about the noise although door slamming was our problem not partying. The jury is out as to wether we return to the Anmaria for a ninth time however we will be returning to Cyprus .

We stayed at the Anmaria for two weeks from the 10th July 2011. We travelled as a couple and it was our first holiday abroad, the main purpose of going to Ayia Napa was that our friends were getting married.
Upon arrival in the early hours of the morning our first impressions were very good. The entrance lobby was shiny and clean and checking in was super fast which was good as we were worn out!
Our room was okay... More 3 star rating than 4. We both agree that to keep up 4 stars the hotel is in desperate need of a facelift. However, the room met our needs and it was kept nice and clean by the lovely cleaners.
The view was beautiful. We were lucky enough to get a sea view which also overlooks the pool. The only downside was that the balconies are really not private.

If there's one thing we REALLY didn't like on this holiday was lack of sleep. I know Ayia Napa is known for partying but some of the drunken teens really didn't seem to have much respect for those who wanted to sleep at 4am. It was especially annoying as some nights they didn't even go out, they just partied in their room (which was opposite ours) with loud music, leaving the door open, then loud slams could be heard every 5mins, followed by loud banging as someone hammered the door to be let in. Also, loads of singing and shouting. As this was the case I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel to families or those wanting a nice quiet nights sleep!!
Other than the lack of sleep it was, all-in-all a great hotel.
The pool area was especially nice, with plenty of sun loungers and a big pool, with a pool bar.
The food was average. We were half-board, but never had breakfast. We tried the dinner out a few times, there were some random choices and some bland food but most of it was edible. One night I got some funny looks as I piled chips onto my plate then smothered them in gravy... I'm a Northern Girl and proud of it!! :)

One thing I will advise is to not be clever like we thought we were and get two room keys so you can leave one in the electric hob whilst you're out, so the air con stays on all day and your room is nice and cold when you get back... Seemed like a brill idea at first, but two weeks of constant air con and we got very ill with ear, nose and throat infections and very bad coughs. It appears they don't clean the filters as often as they should!!!

Complaining aside, it was a good hotel, for teenage groups. Good locations with shops, resteraunts, Nissi Beach and Ayia Napa square within walking distance. Although Nissi beach is furthest at about a half an hour walk, it was 8euros in a taxi.

Stayed here for a week as a couple on Half Board basis in June 2011. Firstly, this hotel is definitely not a 4 star – a definite 3 star at best. The pool area really makes this hotel – lovely layout, large pool, plenty of sun-loungers, nice view of the sea, good pool bar. Without this we would not have enjoyed our stay as much.
Reception are helpful but the waiters and waitresses in the restaurant are very inattentive and uninterested. Their attire should be smartened up also - some were wearing trainers which in a hotel of any rating never mind a ‘4 star’ should not be permitted.
The food is ok, but there are some random selections. Quite a basic/limited choice. The dining area is not that nice an atmosphere, preferred where you have breakfast.
The hotel from the outside and on first impressions is very nice but on the inside it is very dated and could do with a refurb. We noted the new sofas in the Reception area so they are obviously trying. Our room was clean enough but was like something from the 80’s. Rooms are very basic and dark. We weren’t in it much so it didn’t matter and we got a good deal, otherwise I would have been a bit more miffed about this.
Maid service is very good – daily, cleaned and tidied well and at a reasonable time so you don’t get woken.
Location is good, near to a few bars and shops, good exchange across the road at the belt shop. About a 25 min walk to Nissi Beach (8 EUROS in a taxi, taxi rank is right outside front of hotel to the right hand-side as you come out of hotel, or, the bus service is excellent – 2 EURO each for all day pass. Quick and cheap way to Nissi), 10-15 min walk to Ayia Napa square. Hotel is close enough to busy areas but without the noise. During our stay we were offered a free upgrade to All Inclusive at their sister hotel in Protaras. Had we not been staying near Nissi for a family wedding , we would have taken advantage of this but as we were on holiday with others we obviously had to stay put. The reasoning for the free upgrade was due to the hotel being overbooked – we saw many guests arriving but then waiting in Reception to be transferred to another hotel. Not sure whose fault this is (hotel’s or tour operator’s) but had this happened to us we would have been fuming as it was imperative we be situated at the Anmaria close to our family and friends. We felt very sorry for those that had to moved elsewhere when they had only just arrived.
Entertainment by the poolside during the day and in the evening is provided by Thomas Cook which is the usual holiday entertainment – bingo, aqua aerobics, darts, quizzes, game shows in the evening. There always seemed to be a good uptake of participants whenever we were around.
Overall, an ok hotel for the money. Rooms and food could be better as well as better dressed staff. The pool area is really lovely though and is a major upside to the hotel. With regard to types of guests there - we only saw two families during our stay – the guests are mainly couples and groups of friends. If I was travelling with children I would go elsewhere during peak times.

We booked the Anmaria Hotel as a couple for the last two weeks of June for half board. On arrival the reception staff were excellent and gave us the best room in the hotel, room 250 which is on the top floor and has double aspect balconies overlooking the sea and pool area.
Generally the hotel room and all other areas were kept clean and tidy although rooms could do with renovation to improve decor and fittings.
Food was of normal quality for 4 star hotel ranging from very good to average quality but there was always a choice to suit every taste.
The entertainment staff were also as expected that if you didn,t get involved in their silly games etc and become one of their gang you were mainly ignored and did not exist.
Unfortunatelly although this hotel is in a great location for beaches, walks and Ayia Napa town it has become a haven for young revellers which accounted for 80% of occupants with others being young familes and some older people.
The young ones although not causing any physical disturbancies did tend to play music into the early hours before going to the bars/clubs and returning around 5am in good spirits.
The hotel indicated by hanging signs around hotel that they wanted to clear the hotel it would appear for youngsters because they were offering to transfer people to other local hotels and upgrade to all inclusive without any extra charge.
We decided to have a look at the Dome Beach Hotel which is about 3 kms away on other side of nisi beach. They were very helpfull and provided free of charge taxi's for us to visit and view hotel. We agreed and they again provided a taxi to move us and we spent an enjoyable 8 days there.

Room Tip: Best room for views is room 250 but noise until 12 midnight from pool bar below room.
