Electra Holiday Village
Reviewed August 19, 2011

My husband and two sons have just returned from our third holiday at the Electra and are already looking to book to go back again!!

The new water park has made, what was already a great hotel, even better. My sons are 10 and 5 and both of them loved all of the slides, the pool with the wave machine and the lazy river. The lifeguards are all really friendly and helpful, as was Anna at the bar, and the park itself is just so clean and well looked after.

The Electra Hotel itself has everything you would want from a holiday hotel. The rooms have all the facilities you need for your stay and are cleaned by the maids every day. The bedding is changed every couple of days along with the towels. The rooms are a little dated but for the length of time you spend in your room when you are on holiday - who cares!! The cleanliness is the main thing and that couldn't be faulted.

Since our last visit, the restaurant has been altered. There is a larger area for dining tables and outside there is a new bar and seating area. These are both clean and well looked after with all the bar staff and waiters doing a fantastic job. The waiters make a real effort to get to know you - some of them remembered us from previous visits - and the children love this. They get to know what drinks you want to order and remember your room number!!

The food is good with something, really, for everyone. It's evident that the catering staff aim to produce good quality food that's varied and tasty. There are always hot meat dishes, fish, vegetables, pasta, rice etc., along with a huge array of salad dishes. There are also "kids" meals available and a wide range of desserts, fresh fruit etc.

Anis, the main man of the annimation team, once again delivered!! My children love him. He puts everything into his job and does his very best to ensure all guests at the Electra have a great holiday. He never seems to have a day off, he's always happy and cheerful and he is the heart and sole of the Electra Hotel. When we were waiting for our coach to come home and my son was crying his eyes out because he didn't want to leave, Anis came out and gave him a hug, made him feel better and waited and waved us off. He makes you feel special and for children, that's just priceless.

The beach, which is simply a walk down a path way from the Electra, is not the main one in Ayia Napa by any means. But it's fine if the beach is your thing. A walk along the beach path takes you to next beach which is Sandy Bay and this is a lovely sandy beach. Quite a bit further along the path is Nissi Beach.

All in all, we, as a family, love Cyprus and the Electra Hotel. If you are looking for somewhere that is fun, for a great family holiday, I would definitely recommend this place. The weather also in Cyprus is just the best - be prepared for it to be very, very hot if you go in July/August.

this was by far the best holiday iv had, iv been abroad many times to many different places but nothing compared to this one. The rooms were loveley and had everything you need, the staff were brilliant, very happy and worked brilliant as a team. But the best thing about this holiday was definantly the animation team!!! Sandra, Kamila but most important the one and only Anis!!! They made every day exciting and were brilliantly funny, creating the best atmosphere you could wish for, and for all ages and nationalities. Thankyou for the best holiday we will be back, and with more of the family xx

We ( me, boyfriend and daughter 12 ) stayed at this hotel from the 24th July for 10 nights all inclusive. We stayed in a 1 bedroomed apartment room 3412 which has a view of the water park..
#Room - was spacious and clean with a big balcony. fresh towels everyday and bedding changed every other day. You have to pay for the t.v remote but as there were no english channels we didnt bother. Beds are comfy but you need to ask for extra pillows.
Staff - were all pleasant and polite. Loved Anis the main entertainment guy, Arturas at the bar and Sandra and Camilla.
#Pool - really nice never cold and seemed to get warmer as the day went on but really nice. Goes from shallow to over your shoulders, no diving allowed. seperate pool with volley ball net.Nice and clean and plenty of sunbeds. Aqua aerobics and water volley ball every day.
#Waterpark - open 10am - 6pm. Electra guests only and i did see the staff chuck non Electra guests out that tried to enter.Really good fun the side winder is the best. lifeguards really friendly, fun and helpful when my daughter cut her foot. There is a bar that serves drinks. Just need more sun loungers here as they were always taken.
#Food- plenty of choice, full english breakfasts available, different theme every night but always salad available and lovely deserts both hot and cold. Seperate kids buffet which always had chips and veg as well as things like fish fingers and sausages all really nice. Plenty of juices, tea, hot chocolate and coffees available. Waiters get your drinks at dinner.
#Entertainment - lots done by Anis and the girls but there was also magic shows, Parrot Shows, Dancers of all kinds, kareoke and singers. Kids mini disco and bingo. Everyone gets involved and its a good laugh. If you cant find a table tell Anis and he will find you one.
#Beach - really rocky and quite difficult to get in to the water but waters lovely, lots of water sports going on and great for crab hunting ! Walk down to the next beach which is better.
#Out and about - ate out at Garden of Eden, The Orange Grove and Taste of India. Really reasonable prices and good food. Lots of shops, bars and restaurants nearby and you dont have to walk far.
ALL IN ALL HAD A REALLY LOVELY TIME AT THIS HOTEL AND IT IS GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY. LOTS OF ENGLISH THERE WITH A FEW GERMAN & DUTCH. THE WEATHER WAS AROUND 40 EVERYDAY AND I DIDNT WANT TO COME HOME. I WOULD GO BACK AGAIN :) Don't listen to the bad reviews this place is great.

Just back from 10 days at Electra Holiday Village with our 2 lads (15 and 16) and firstly we had a lovely holiday overall, but there were some aspects that could be improved. Our rooms were fine, spacious and had all that was needed with a fridge and kettle, etc. but rooms could probably benefit from a bit of a makeover as they are a bit on the brown side so need brightening up, but we had no ants or cockroaches, rooms were lovely and clean and beds were very comfy. We were on ground floor and our patio area had a lovely garden with very pretty shrubs and flowers - in fact the hotel grounds were very well kept and full of beautiful flowers and plants, we even had a pomegranete tree growing in our garden area. Staff in hotel were friendly and helpful and especially lovely waiters and maids. The waiters work incredibly hard and are always cheeful and friendly. Maids also very friendly and work very hard. Entertainment was a bit haphazard and to be honest not really up to scratch for this kind of resort and for what we paid. Anis and team are very good, but not that professional and sometimes we felt a bit bullied into having to join in when maybe we just fancied a quieter time watching. 10 out of 10 for trying and effort but they need to bring in a bit more variety and bring in better professional acts from outside. People with small children were well catered for really, but teenagers found it a bit lacking. Facilities at the hotel are ok, the main pool is lovely but we had trouble with getting sunbeds a couple of times - the usual story of people reserving them at 5am with towels! The splash pool is great and we loved it, but again not enough sunbeds. It was very very hot and humid (over 40 degrees) and we felt we could do with a bit of shade. The gym was basic and didn't have air con so we were unable to use it. Food also let this place down. There was plenty of it and choice, but it all seemed pretty much the same even though they had a different theme for dinner each night. We got really fed up with the same old thing and they only have a weekly menu so if you are there for longer then it all starts repeating. The best things about the food was the snacks available after 3 till 6 because you could choose from a menu and it was freshly cooked. Lunch was very bizare with pork chops and wedges and rice and stuff like that. They should have pittas and sandwiches that sort of thing really because who really wants a massive meal at lunch time? We hired a car and this was great so we could get out and about a bit and see a bit more of Cyprus which was lovely, otherwise I think we would have had enough of what was available at the hotel. We had a bit of a problem as our son slipped on a wet floor in the hotel room and knocked the (very old) tv off it's little table and it broke. We reported this and they were not particularly caring about whether our son was injured or not and they then charged us 150 euro to replace the tv. We thought this was far too much for such an old tv that didn't really work very well in the first place and in England you can't even give these old tvs away. The rep wasn't very helpful with this and the reception staff insisted on us paying the money before we left. There was no list of charges for broken items and it all seemed a bit haphazard how they came up with the amount we had to pay.
I don't mean for this to be a moaning review and we had a lovely holiday but I think there are things that could be improved at this hotel and the entertainment is definitely an area they need to look at.

Room Tip: rooms overlooking the pool are noisy at night time, better go for a room away from the pool

We have travelled to quite a few different places trying family holidays and this is the first time we have ever loved a holiday so much as to choose to return again next year. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, the reps were really informative, the entertainment was excellent. For families with children its especially good as our children loved the Kids Club, they did face painting, pool games, beach games, tshirt painting, all sorts of things and really enjoyed themselves. The entertainment staff work really hard and Anis is very amusing, doing everything he can to make sure he gets a lot of laughs. I was asked what I thought about a few things which made me realise the staff are constantly looking to make improvements. The music being played round the pool area was just right, nice relaxing jazz when youre just relaxing after breakfast and chart stuff a bit later, we really liked it. The food was great, so much to choose from with hot foods and a huge selection of salads, lovely fresh fish and all cooked really well. The chef came out most evenings and was clearly very keen on having happy satisfied guests. There was a selection just for kids every day as well, and we always filled our plates up as it was so nice. The kids loved having as many ice creams as they liked all day long, with the hotel being all inclusive you don't have to worry about things like that. The pools were great and clean, the water park was amazing - 6 slides, a wave machine and a lazy river. Nissi beach is lovely, it costs 1euro each way on the bus or 20 mins walk along the coast path, but the beach next to the Electra is fab - crystal clear water, gently shelving golden sand, pedaloes etc to hire. We loved the fair in Ayia Napa and had trips on the Black Pearl which is a pirate ship which sails round the coast with a crew dressed as Pirates of the Carribean who entertain the whole trip, and went to Larnaca camel park, which were both really good fun. Our room was cleaned most days with lovely crisp clean sheets. It was about 35-37 degrees every day which was just right!
Quite a lot of people staying were returning guests - it just has everything you could wish for in a holiday! Lots of people seem to be moaning but honestly, I think they are just 'moaners' who would never be happy with anything as this place is absolutely brilliant.

Dont get put off by negative reviews ,this complex is fantastic for kids, great pools and the splash/slide park is exclusive to hotel guests . For adults there is a bar near to the pool and one in the slide park .The rooms are good and cleaned most days ,staff are polite and friendly.Food is excellent with a wide choice every day. Kids disco every night and entertainment after that for all to join in. We also hired a vehicle and saw more of Cyprus and its people, they even deliver your vehicle to the hotel what more can you ask for . I would recommend this hotel ,holiday complex to families who want a great holiday with great weather looked after by great staff. What else do you need. Well done Electra village. Well done First choice holidays.
