Well this was our 11th year (not 10th!) at the Asterias Beach Hotel. As always it was fantastic and went way TOO fast for us all. The hotel renovations they have done since last year are amazing and given the hotel a whole new modern feel but it has still retained the family ethos it has always had, which has kept us going back year after year. The food was lovely, cooked beautifully and the new, fresh, ideas were very welcome. The staff - from the pool bar to the main bar, to the cleaners, to the management were... as ALWAYS wonderful. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they will always endeavour to rectify any problem you may have. Fantastic family hotel! Seeing & hearing the childrens disco (early part of the evening) was wonderful to see them all enjoying themselves, what it is all about. Beach & weather, as always fantastic! Already looking at flights for next year! Thank you to everyone for another brilliant holiday. See you next year!

To keep it simple here are the pros and cons.

Pros
Generally good room service and cleaning.
Beautiful rooms. Good beds, clean lighting. Modern look.
Quiet area of Ayna Napa. Good for people looking to have a relaxing stay.
Clean beach.
Had breakfast and fruits in the room when arriving.
Free internet.
Ayia Napa isn’t that big so you can still reach the center after a 15 min drive.

Cons
After 6-7 meters, the sea is that area is full of rocks and algae. The water is still clean though but I can’t say it’s very enjoyable. From my point of view is absolutely impossible to play any games in the water as these may lead to an injury. I’ve actually seen lots of people with bandages on.
In the room you may find yourself with ants or other insects. This seems to be something I read about other hotels too.
The hotel is quiet but maybe too quiet. Entertainment kind of lacks for people between 20 and 35 years. At nearby hotels I’ve seen DJ’s , contests, lot of action but at Asterias they tend to keep things quite low. I’m not saying it’s bad thing but if you’re looking for some serious fun it shouldn’t be someone’s first option.
On the way to the main road, when exiting the hotel, you can actually see a field. There’s nothing there but rodents. It’s a little bit weird I may say …
Near the hotel is generally little action.
What did upset me the most was the actual room position. Even though they advertise rooms with sea view and garden view please be informed that they also have rooms with a parking view where all you can see is concrete and cars. To top this up, one day (but only one day though) they had some workers in the parking with a machine that sounded like a tractor. This was very, very, very annoying.

Sometimes you can be asked for your room number more than two times. This is a little idiotic practice as you feel like they are asking to be sure you are not a stranger that came to live of their food.

As diversity the menu is more a three star. The Cleanliness is a four star.

Water is very expensive at the hotel. A one litter bottle costs up to three euro. I don’t really thing is very fair from their side to overcharge for something that basic. I know it’s just business but already paying 1400 euro for a room with a parking view it annoyed the hell out of me to pay that much for plain simple water.

Conclusion: Good enough if you want a quiet, relaxing stay with little beach activities. If you are a big (sea or drinking) water fan and you also want to be close to the action than head somewhere in the center of Ayia Napa.

Room Tip: Be aware of the "parking view" rooms.

The beach is great the sea is amazing and the staff really friendly, from the management to the staff there was always a smile and everyone tried to make us feel well come . Would go back in a heart beat, .

Room Tip: Facing the sea is good , or partial view of the water.

I am grateful to you for your complimentary review.
We enjoyed having you stay! Your stay sort of punctuated the passage of the season in a very bohemian style! I think, particularly, the afternoon cocktails convinced me of your praiseworthy bohemian crudentials.
Come back soon.

myself and my partner stay in may, we are both in our 30s. been Cyprus 3 times and love it. this hotel is the best looking crap hotel i have ever stayed in, looks great, but no English at all. Found two couples that made are holiday only a few staff spoke english. the food was terrible, and repetitive, very........
warm water for tea in the mornings and hot milk can you believe...
no named band drinks. no snacks after evening meal. no drinks after 12. no tea making facilities in the rooms. loads of silly music for kids in the evening. very loud. pool bar staff very poor and you had to pay for beds on the beach you would think 4 star hotel they would have free beds on the beach.. Had to pay extra to stay on in are room because we had a late flight home. 50 euro rip off.
No english channels on the tv in your room. sorry only the news
Went the pool one day because the weather was crap, tried to use the sauna and jacuzzi and found out that we had to pay. 4 star hotel unbelievable

The only good things.....

The two barman chris and marcus main bar,
Staff in the evenings
Cleaners always smiled and said hello
The old fellow with the suit and mustache on reception in the evening
Very clean hotel.

Thank you for review of your recent stay at the Asterias Beach Hotel.
Thank you also for the number of complimentary comments; they made a welcome break while reading your review!
I am sorry your stay with us didn't always meet your expectations. Please do yourself a favour in the future and bring any shortcomings to the attention of the duty manager. He is there to put things right!
The number of British guests in house varies. I am sorry for you that you couldn't bring yourself to socialise with any other nationality during your stay. Try it once!
All the senior staff and the majority of the junior staff are fluent in English.
Thanks for your criticism of the breakfast tea service. I assure you that as a tea drinker I have a vested interest and will look at it.
The pool bar staff have already been reassigned. I apologise for the poor service you experienced.
As a regular visitor to Cyprus you must be aware that the hire of sunloungers and umbrellas is regulated by the local municipality. The fee must be levied and it must be €2.50 per item per day. The hotel management has no other choice.
Late check out fees are designed to cover the cost of any out-of-hours maid service necessary to prepare a room for the planned arrival of the new occupants. You, of course, were informed of the charge and you agreed to pay it. The cheapest option - it's completely free actually - is to check out by noon and keep your luggage locked securely in the luggage room. When it's time to get ready for the trip home ask reception for the keys to one of the free-to-use courtesy rooms.
Following some recent changes we lost the BBC1 satellite signal. We are currently showing SKY NEWS and CHANNEL4 only but are actively looking to add more English language channels.

A large group of boisterous Canadians were welcomed and taken care of by the great staff at this beautiful beach resort. We arrived late after many hours of travel and were told that the dining room had been kept open so that we could enjoy dinner. A very generous offer as the staff work long shifts every day.

Our room had a great view and was very modern and clean. There is a large variety of great food at every meal. Service was super and most of the staff speak English really well (as well as many other languages)so there were very few issues getting anything you wanted. The bars were well staffed so it was quick to get a drink.

The beach is beautiful with lots of chairs and umbrellas. The beach volleyball was lots of fun although the Canadian team rarely won any games because of the tough competition. There were a lot of activities for those that wanted to play games and be active.

I will recommend this resort to my friends and family.
