Just returned from a lovely week at Asterias. We arrived late at night, there was food in our room but the room was on the small side. The following morning asked the reception staff if there was any chance of changing to a bigger room, we changed room within the hour. The reception staff were so helpful, actually all the staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful.
Room was modern, airy, spacious and clean with a mini bar fridge. The hotel itself is perfectly situated on the beach with a few shops in the surrounding areas.
There was a wide choice of food and drink although coming towards the end of the week the food was a little repeated but as it is in any all inclusive hotel.
I would definately recomenend this hotel but would not go to Aiya Napa again.

I much obliged to you for posting your favourable review of your recent stay with us.
I am delighted my staff dealt with your points promptly and satisfactorily and did so in a courteous and professional way. I personally lay much importance on guest/staff interaction: it's what makes one's holiday experience more personal.
I was a little surprised to read of your wish for greater variety in our cuisine. Here at the Asterias we strive to offer a truly memorable gastronomic experience and towards those aims I will be passing on your comment to Sotiris; our new head chef.
I do share your sentiments regarding the centre of Agia Napa. I feel there's much more wrong than there is right about the centre of the resort. I do recommend, however, checking out the monastery, marina and museum if culture is your thing. If clubbing, on the other hand, is your thing then you probably already know that Agia Napa is a mecca for garage and also other genres of music. The famous Nissi Beach is a quick 30 minute stroll along the coastal jogging path.
I do hope you come back. I will be delighted to point to you some interesting sites a little further away but well worth visiting.

Guests here 18th April for 2 weeks. The hotel is on Makrinossis Bay which has a beautiful beach with amazingly clear sea. Swimming was great although a little on the cool side. We had a upper floor room with lovely views over towards Ayia Napa. Our room was spacious, light and airy with good wardrobe and drawer space. Mini fridge for your own use, good mirrors and hairdryer. Big beach towel provided which was a pleasant bonus. Very comfortable beds and pillows.Spotlessly clean. The food was excellent - almost a chip free zone - no fast food here. Wonderful salad bar. Lovely joints of meat on the carvery. Imaginative well prepared dishes with lots of fresh herbs and vegetables. I think the food was the nicest we have had at a hotel and our sincere thanks to all in the kitchen for all their hard work. Dress code evenings so smarten up guys. Lovely pool area with plenty sun beds. Usual towels on beds early morning but you are on holiday so the last couple of days we did the same!!! Very few Brits at the hotel but that was no problem. Saw the hotel on Google Map whilst looking for good beaches. Couldn't find a tour company dealing with this hotel so did a DIY booking through Sunshine Holidays and the whole thing was seamless. Will definitely use them again. Sun beds on the beach you have to pay for as you do with all the beaches in Cyprus so we sunned by the pool and swam in the sea. Simple. The hotel is a pleasant good hours coastal walk from Ayia Napa which suited us. We liked the exercise and the Italian ice cream at the Kimon Bar on the road up from the harbour was our usual reward. Regular bus service available from the road 5 mins walk from the Asterias. One euro per trip but you can also buy a day ticket for 3 euros and get on and off at leisure. The weekly roving ticket is 13 euros. We travelled around quite a bit on the buses and in the end didn't bother with car hire. Thanks to all the staff and management at Asterias for making our stay so pleasant. We'll be back.

Room Tip: Upper floor side rooms facing coast to Ayia Napa. Also a few at front facing bay. Five new rooms...

stayed here 15th 22nd april, with my wife & daughter. checked in just before midnight, by night porter/ night receptionist, allocated room 241, need a taxi (almost !) to get to the room. you see, the guest rooms are linked to the rest of the hotel by an enclosed walkway- about 90-100ft long, housing the shop, hairdressers, etc, then, once we exited the lift on the 2nd floor, we then had about another 100ft walk with our luggage, as our room was the furthest away from the lifts (back facing rooms) and, being a carpeted corridoor with 5 steep stairs to climb midway was not an easy task, no good for the infirm that's for sure !.
anyway, the room was spacious , bright and modern, had a little snack awaiting us- buns, ham ,cheese & some bottled water. small balcony, width wise, more for taking in the views than relaxing on, by morning checked out the view from our balcony- car park below, water park to the left and, if you leant over far enough, could see some of the bay further along from the hotel to our right.
food review : i will start by pointing out that- due to the usual serving area under refurbishment, and a much smaller area being in use, the food at meal times was limited, so cannot give a "true review on what may be normally on offer.
breakfast: "hot" food, bacon eggs etc, cereals, fruit/ yoghurts and pastries.everything was just ok, bacon, eggs, lukewarm at best, however, adam, the omelette chef saved the day, as the omelettes were lovely, as were the croissants. breakfast taken outside at pool terrace which was nice, coffee brought to table by waiting staff, however, - it was sometimes not hot enough-flasks were in use.
lunch: limited choice, chicken, pork, carvery on offer, salads, breads, soup, again meal taken on pool terrace, drinks were ordered from waiting staff. food was nice .but nothing spectacular.
evening dinner; much the same as lunch, a few more dishes on offer, but again, food was ok, had better ( in 3 star hotels), but also had worse.
pool/ terrace: nice & spacious, plenty sunbeds spread about- and they were all new, so nice &clean, pool bar seving alcoholic/ non alcoholic and hot drinks, large pool, clean but water was freezing !, below terrace, was the indoor pool, warmer than the outdoor pool, sauna, steam room-which was only in operation twice during our stay, well equipped, and up to date gym equipment, kids play room and table tennis/ darts.
the asterias is in a great location beach wise as it has it,s own lovely, clean beach right in front of the hotel, crystal clear water, but cold swimming in it at this time of year !. at the far right of the beach is the
makrinossis archeological site, which is free of charge, and you can walk along the coastal path to the lovely nissi beach right from the hotel's beach.
evening entertainment : hmm, not impressed, monday, nothing, tuesday, nothing, wednesday, ahh, cypriot show, oh but wait, we only caught the last 10 minutes of this ,as strangely, it began at 2030 hours, whilst most guests- including ourselves, were having our evening meal , thursday, parrot show, same old tricks, pretty boring, fri/ sat male/ female singer in cocktail lounge.
ai drinks : as with almost every ai hotel we have stayed in, found most alcoholic drinks, pretty weak, needed plenty down your neck, to have any effect !
the staff & management are friendly and helpful, and overall, despite the niggles, we enjoyed our stay at the asterias, and would return and alsso reccomend this hotel to friend / family.
p.s. the beds were the most comfortable we have ever slept in, had a great nights sleep( and very quiet at night in the room).

Room Tip: pay extra if you want sea view

Sincerely grateful for your time and attention to detail in compiling your review.
I should point out that this hotel is a medium size, low rise resort. The distances from the lobby to some of the furthest away rooms may, therefore, be an issue for someone less mobile. To mitigate this I can recommend requesting a room (even after check-in) nearer the lifts and on the flat. Andri, the reservations manager, will be too delighted to help make your stay more comfortable.
Glad you found the newly renovated guest rooms bright and inviting. I do agree with you that our new Super King doubles with a soft/hard side and three zone support make for a great night's sleep.
The great news is that the new buffet area is completely ready and that it has been very well received. All lovely and spacious with cool Greek marble counters and extremely swish chafing dishes. New pix will be posted on our website soon!
I'll take up your comment about the Cypriot folk show starting too early with the entertainments manager and see if we can schedule the shows more appropriately.
I am glad you feel you enjoyed your stay and that you can recommend the Asterias Beach to your circle of friends and family.
Please do come again.

We just returned from an absolutely fantastic holiday at the Asterias Beach Hotel. We stayed for one week, all-inclusive and had a garden-view room. The hotel is still being renovated in some areas, but our room and wing had recently been completed so that we could enjoy a brand new room with excellent equipment and furniture - the mattresses and bunk bed for the kids were particularly appreciated. The best features of the hotel are clearly the beautiful private beach and the pool area. There is both a main and kids pool as well as an exceptionally large indoor pool. Although early in the year, it was warm enough to swim outside. The food is good and the service excellent. There is really no need to leave the hotel because everything is provided for an available, but if you do want to explore the surrounding areas there are plenty of beaches, shops and restaurants on the way to Ayia Napa city centre, which is approximately 3 kilometres away. We recommend the hotel without reservation. We will probably stay there again in the near future, but will go in late May and book a sea-view room instead. Finally, you have to try the black olives served at dinner and enjoy the fantastic Ouzo served in the hotel bar (but don't mention the Real-Bayern game).

Room Tip: Sea-view rooms facing the pool are recommended.

First time we've stayed here and first time in Cyprus. We did half our holiday in Protaras and the other here. I found the beaches nicer in Ayia Napa and this hotel was very good. When we stayed the hotel was still undergoing renevation work but it looked really impressive and modern. The food was very high standard and the restaurant was run like a proper restaurant. Some Other 4 * Hotels don't always do so when it's a buffet food. On all inclusive you can have any drink at the bar, the other place we stayed at you could only have a limited choice on the All inc. Macranissos Beach is beautiful. If I was really picky I could say the entertainment was a bit lame some nights, however, 1 night they had some guitar players who were brilliant.

Slightly annoyed at the ignorant comment below about Germans, yes there are lots of different nationalities which you would normally expect when you go abroad but that's a good thing. The atmosphere at the hotel was quiet and relaxing and not spoilt by some Brits who don't know how to conduct themselves on holiday.

Rant aside, our stay at the Asterias was very nice and we'd love to come back again. This Hotel is excellent value for money

Just on our way back waiting for our delayed flight from a week long stay at the asterias beach. The hotel was excellent and well worth the money. The staff and entertainment team could not do enough for you, and were very polite and friendly. The rooms have been recently spruced up and were to a very good and comfortable standard. The dining hall is currently under renovation (although this did not cause any inconvenience to us). The food was very good (much better than I anticipated to be honest) with loads of choice and cooked to a very good standard. For quite a small hotel, they had everything I needed anyway (although the weather was hit and miss)............ Pool, pool bar, well equipped gym, indoor pool etc.

Now a couple of room for improvement points:
1)GERMANS......... And lots of them..........there was a variety of nationalities, although Germans were the main, and as sour faced and miserable as ever. 2)the alcohol content in some of the drinks were poor and we found it hard to be even merry! 3) breakfast states 7:00am till 10:30 although arrive after 10 and they are packing everything away!!!! 4) Ayia Napa, is a hole! It is very run down and desolate. We did however go out of season so this may improve, though I doubt it. Stick to the hotel and local tavernas.

All in all, we had a great stay at the asterias beach and I would not hesitate in going back.........

Room Tip: You can only ask for a sea view room?

Much obliged to you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us.
I am delighted you had a good time and yes Ayia Napa town centre could be loads better.
I am quite excited to announce that the new buffet counters will be first used this coming Thursday. The new buffet area looks light and Summery with taup coloured woodwork and beautifully bright Greek marble countertops. The whole area is spacious and efficiently laid out to show off our kitchen's mouth watering creations in the best light.
The proportions of different nationalities of our guests vary throughtout the season. We have currently guests from Germany, Russia, UK and Switxerland. Well I don't know about generalising so readily regarding our German guests. I have met many fun Germans and some miserable Brits in my time and have learned to take each person as an individual. Don't be so quick to generalise!
I'm certain our bar staff would be obliging to any requests for stiffer drinks. Try them on your next stay.
Thanks for your remark regarding clearing up time at the end of breakfast service. I'll look into it.
Thanks again for your time to record your comments and heartfelt thanks for your praises.
