We stayed in the Nissi Beach Resort in the last week in May. We found it to be an extremely clean and well run hotel.
We arrived in the middle of the night and a porter took our bags straight to our room. The room had a full fruit bowl and bottle of wine to welcome us - much needed after the long trip! In the morning we were greeted with a gorgeous view of the turquoise waters outside and went down for breakfast. The breakfast area was lovely both inside and out and well sheltered from the sun which was already strong even at 8 am! The restaurant looks over the hotel's gardens which are immaculate - no small feat in such arid conditions. You can also see the wedding gazebo which has a fabulous sea view. The breakfast itself was as you might expect in a hotel of this standard - large, varied and always being refilled - an excellent start to the day!
There were on average 3 weddings a day whilst we were there but the wedding recpetions seemed to be well organised and each party has it's own space. I spoke to one of the brides who said she really felt like her wedding was the only one.
The hotel has an enviable position on Nissi Beach (public beach) which is extremely popular. The water is crystal clear and a real pleasure. However, if you are not keen on dance music then the consistent sound coming from the non- hotel beach bars might irritate you! You have to pay for the loungers on the beach and as it was quieter (and free!) by the hotel's pool, we chose to stay there most days. The hotel has numerous pool and beach bars which all serve delicious iced coffee and well as a great range of drinks and snacks. The animation team were pleasant and didn't hassle you to join activities (as happens in many hotels). There is entertainment on in the hotel every night and it its light hearted and enjoyable.
It was my boyfriend's birthday during our stay and I asked if it was possible to have a birthday cake. The hotel not only made us a chocolate cake but also left a bottle of fizz in the room for us - free of charge. Really unexpected and delightful of them!
The hotel's spa looks lovely. We got free beach towels from there each day - very handy! We were also able to use the showers there at the end orf our last day rather than paying for a late check out.
Throughout our stay, the staff were always available to help but at the same time totally unobtrusive, the hotel was amazingly clean and comfy and it was a great base for our holiday.
There was a bus stop just outside the hotel. The holiday rep tipped us off that you could get an all day ticket on the local buses for just 2 euro each and this will take you to the Waterpark (fun but very pricy) in one direction and to Aiya Napa, Protaras and Paralimni in the other. The bus runs til 4 am so this is a great way to get around although be warned: you can be waiting for a bus for some time!!. Aiya Napa was a bit nicer than I had expected given it's reputation! However, it is more pricy there than Protaras and I think the service in the bars and restauarants in Protaras was better (we liked Hippo Campus and Eden Square) - it's also a lot more chilled out than Napa if drinking and clubbing is not really your scene. There are load of tours running from both Napa and Protaras so you can do as much or as little as you like - there are loads of little shops that sell tour tickets and it's worth shopping around for a bit of discount.
There are also plenty of supermarkets and restaurants on the road (we liked Apple Restaurant) where the hotel is sited. As a Brit you might find the manner of the restauranteurs a bit full on - they court all the passing tourists and ask them to come into their restaurants - some are more vocal and insistant than others! Personally I just want to be left alone and look at the menu but each to their own!
Overall I can't really fault the hotel. For me though I think I would have preferred a slightly quieter location but being 2 kms from Aiya Napa I couldn't really expect it to be silent! I understand that this hotel is part of a small chain and I would certainly be happy to be a guest at any one of their hotels again.
