“Quiet retreat in the party capital of Cyprus”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

In the heart of Ayia Napa is this 14th century monastery, its chapel partly under a rock (above which the bars start). It also has an unusual (for Cyprus) freestanding bell tower. It's hard to think that, less than 40 years ago, the only reason most people visited Ayia Napa was to see the monastery.

“Quiet”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

A beautiul place however there were no other tourists there when we went, implying it is not very popular in Ayia Napa, very small and it takes 30 seconds to walk through and take a look. Very close the clubs etc so music can be heard very loudly, which takes away from the ambience you would expect of a monastery.

Thank you for your comments, Ayia Napa monastery is very popular, specially in Cyprus, it depends from the period of the year and the hours that you visit the place, to see many visitors or not. As for the music, this is a result of the tourist development, we make efforts to solve these issues. We hope to see you again in Ayia Napa

“Monastery Qualities”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

Nice to sit and enjoy the feel of the place, lovely to amble through and also reflect on the Fig tree (look for it at the market end). Great for photos and a little work gets you amongst the today side of the town in the club district. Well worth a pass through on an evening if only to see how the other half enjoy the social side.

“Basic bit of history”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

There's not much to see but at least we saw a bit of history during our stay here. Easy to find, well sign posted, not far from the beach

“Worth a visit”

Interesting place to walk around and have a sit down. Beautiful architecture, lovely historical place that's situated right in the middle of Ayia Napa. Plus it's free.
