We drove from a village near Limassol to pick up the Red bus after reading about it on Trip advisor. Our aim was to visit the area our 93 year old Aunt used to live. We had the two Dave's who were kind and knowledgable. Our first stop after picking everyone up was in the wonderful historic old town of Famagusta ,after going through to Northern Cyprus without a hitch due to giving our passport details on booking. Before we were dropped off to wonder the streets we were given lots of information as we travelled round inside the old walls. The Dave's kindly asked a local man where the address was we had of where our Aunt had lived up to 1974. Heading off to Verosha after a leisurely lunch armed with this information we were more interested in viewing this sad sight of the now deserted ghost town. Others made the most of the beautiful turquoise sea to swim and some snorkelled with the provided equipment further out to try to catch a glimpse of the protected turtles. After leaving the white sanded beach we set off back ,going round the back of this area once frequented by the rich and famous. We found the trip emotional but exhilarating being able to see Aunt Olive's beloved Famagusta and being able to understand more fully when she talks about the day she had to leave everything and was airlifted out by helicopter. Thank you Dave and Dave for an extremely worth while friendly helpful trip. P.S. We have since found a photograph of Olive's apartment right on the beach with the road which address we had, running parallel at the other side of the apartments.
