“A good 3* hotel but could be a lot better.”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

We stayed here in May 2014.

When we visited it was immaculately clean - all communal areas and our room were spotless.
The hotel communal areas were nicely furnished - everything looked new. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful, especially Maria on reception.

The hotel is in a great location, however walking back late at night, I felt a bit wary as you have to walk down a poorly lit winding road with a hedge/wall on one side and a scruffy looking scrub land strewn with rubbish on the other. It was fine of a day but at night it felt quite lonely.

The pool area was pleasant even if as always there are those strange people claiming the sunbeds with their towels before breakfast. This territorial behaviour is not restricted to one nationality but is an equal opportunities annoyance.

Walking straight on to the beach everyday was great. Sandy Bay is much nicer than Nissi Beach and is quiet (no thumping music) and kept in a pristine condition.

We only stayed bed and breakfast, which was definitely the right decision.

Breakfast had a hot and cold buffet, consisting of all the usuals. It was cooked fresh and replenished regularly. The bread was fresh and of really good quality but the coffee machine made absolutely terrible coffee (it tasted like instant coffee mixed with sugar) and sadly the only milk available was UHT. The 'fresh' fruit juices were too sugary and not that fruity!

The evening meals appeared to be carvery/roast dinners every night and the odour that wafted and lingered through the hotel wasn't very appetising.

There are plenty of restaurants and bars on the beach, at other hotels and on the main road to try instead of eating roasts each night. Go on live a little!

Our room was basic. We had a tiny balcony with an obscured view of the sea. The bed was two singles shoved together which wasn't comfortable. We were on the first floor and could hear staff preparing for the breakfast service and what I think was a washing machine spinning from 6am on each morning.

We paid €10 for use of the safe for 1 week. It was €20 per week for the fridge - which seems excessive so we didn't bother.

I would recommend this hotel if you're looking for a basic but clean hotel on the beach but try to get a room above the 1st floor!

Room Tip: Don't stay on the first floor - noise from restaurant and house keeping from 6am daily plus ling...

As a visitor to Tasia Sands Hotel at least twice a year and three times some years since
2003 I was very disappointed to learn that Thompson Holidays had blocked booked it for 2013again for 2014. We usually stayed form 9 or 10 nights at at time but when I tried booking this year all I could get was 7, 11, or 14 nights so goodbye to the Tasia Maris Sands Hotel. I would to say that the staff were great and could not do enough for any visitor.
I hope Management dont live to regret having made this decision as like us many people we met over the years in the Hotel will like us move to other Hotels in the area

This hotel is lovely and even has its own private beach in a little private area. The views are amazing from the balcony too. The rooms are spacious and clean and id definitely stay here again. The lobby is also nice and all the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The location is good but slightly far to walk the one long toad to the hotel but once you pass that road it is by all the restaurants.

First impressions always count and wow The Tasia Maris did,we were in the new extended part of the hotel where our room was spacious, immaculately clean and well situated with beautiful views of sea and pool view(paying the extra is worth it)although entertainment can be loud in the evening it's not on going too late. All the staff were welcoming and always friendly, especially Marina at the pool bar.Lovely beaches nearby, follow the coastal path is easy and so much quicker to explore the views on Nissi beach rather than trek the road. The food is great but we felt authentic dishes could be offered more, and did'nt expect most of sun beds around pool to be reserved with towels as its specified that this was not permitted in the hotel !!The manager MrT(we called him)greeted us,and during holiday interacted with the guests and said farewell, that was a lovely personal touch that meant a lot.Overall we had a lovely holiday and would love to return.

Well, I would rate the hotel higher if they provide 20% lower prices.
In general the hotel is good – close to a fine, low-crowded sandy beach. Also it is 20 min walking to the center of Aiya-Napa. Famous (and crowded, watch your valuables!) Nissi beach is 10-15 min walk from the hotel. The rooms are clean, bathrooms are a bit outdated and need renovation, I think. Sea-view from 5-th floor rooms is great. If you are on a Half-board option I would recommend going to “House on the beach restaurant” for lunch, as they offer better dishes than the hotel. Wi-Fi is free for hotel residents and works perfectly (including Skype video calls). Don’t hesitate to try green oranges at the dinner – they are very tasty inside :) The hotel stuff is helpful, speaks English and ready to give you an advice. If you go outside of the hotel, turn left on the main street and you would come to a bus stop. From this bus stop you can go by bus to Waterpark (101, 102 bus - EUR 1.5). Waterpark price is EUR 35 full-day, no half-day-price is available. Also from the bus stop you can go to Larnaka (EUR 4.5). After spending 1-3 hours in Larnaka you can go to Nicosia (also about EUR 4) and in the evening you go back directly to Aiya-Napa by bus from central station of Nicosia.

Room Tip: Room 514 can be sold to you as a single room, but it is connected to room 515 by a simple wooden doo...

I agree with the previous reviewer about the helpful and friendly staff. I recognise the names mentioned and look forward to meeting them all again when we return in a few weeks. We stayed there from May 29th until June 9th 2013 and the weather, as we expected, was fabulous. The water was warm and clear and the bay delightful. The beach really is as close as the photos show and there are plenty of sunbeds there which cost 7.50 euros a day (2 sunbeds & one parasol). Of course, one can stay around the hotel pool for free, but space is a little limited and the prime sunbeds are always taken VERY early in the morning, which is true of EVERY resort we've EVER been to. Breakfast and dinner is of good quality and offers the usual sort of holiday choices.. some a little strange to British tastes, but there's always roast or grilled meats and plenty of salads. Unusually for overseas, I find, there's a cheese board and often with English cheese, which makes a change. But the star of the food show MUST be the lunches at the pool side. Try the grilled swordfish, I recommend it. Roll on September :-)

This is our 3rd stay at the Tasia Maris Sands and as usual everything was perfect, rooms are cleaned and and fresh towels are given every day of the week and the room attendant was so lovely and thoughtful. All staff are very friendly and polite, in particular Maria on reception who immediately remembered us and did her best to allow us to have our room until 6pm on departure day due to our late flight. Also Tania (breakfast waitress) remembered us too and was extremely helpful and kind especially when i had an allergic reaction.....continued care and concern throughout the rest of our holiday too. Even Dimitri the breakfast waiter and our room attendant lady recognised us too. The hotel is just far enough from the town to be peaceful and it only takes a short stroll to get into the center. The local supermarket is stocked well and and prices are very good. Our only groan would be we wished the gym was better and air-condtioned, its like a furnace down there. We'll be back though!

Room Tip: All rooms have a sea view, best ones are away from the evening noise from the Nissaki Beach Bar
