Lost count of the number of visits here, we love it so much! From the second we enter Quinta do Lago we feel the stress release. Stunning location, set amongst the ria Formosa nature reserve and Quinta south golf course. Reception staff so helpful, lovely touch to accommodate us in same block as last visit as we'd commented how much we liked it.

Spent most of our days either by the pool or at the beach, winding down from our hectic lives. Enjoyed late afternoons at Bobby Jones watching the last of the day's golfers, great hospitality, and got to try some cocktails!

Beautiful and comfortable accommodation, can't fault it - you definitely get what you pay for with Diamond.

Room Tip: 2 bed villas well equipped

This was the second time we’ve visited VDG in the last two years, while I still had a great time and would happily go back, I was really disappointed that this time we were in one of the older units which had not yet been refurbished. I was under the impression that they had now all been completed, so was quite surprised when we arrived. That said, if I’d not seen the new villas, I think I’d have been more than happy! However, that is my one and only negative, and in hindsight I’m sure if I’d contacted the hotel we could have had a newer unit.

The pool is the nicest I’ve swum in, it’s crystal clear blue, cold but refreshing. The pool area is spotlessly clean, and there was always plenty of sunbeds.

The closest beach is lovely, the hotel regularly run a free bus there and back throughout the day. Last time, if you had a VDG pass, the parking was free, this time however, it was not and it costs 10 euros a day.

Car is a must, we had plenty of freedom, we went in to Villamoura a couple of evenings which was great, and visited Tavira for a day which is also well worth a visit.

The supermarket at Quinta do Lago bakes fresh bread rolls every day, and the Aldi in Almancil has a great range of food (not to mention very cheap wines and beers!) so there’s plenty of choice if you want to dine in. We did this a couple of times this time, as it’s very expensive to eat out in the surrounding areas.

Quinta do Lago is walkable, but it’s about 1½ miles. The driving is pretty easy though, we took it in turns. Some of the roads could do with the lines being repainted though so beware of ‘invisible’ junctions, and large potholes!! The key is to take it steady and keep your wits about you!

Another lovely, relaxed week full of sun and sea – can’t wait to go back!

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished unit!

Thank you for this extensive review – we’re really glad that you enjoyed your stay at Vilar Do Golf! We’ll make every effort to provide a refurbished apartment if our guests request one, although please be aware that occupancy levels at the resort when you check in will determine whether this is possible. We’re aiming to have all the apartments at Vilar Do Golf refurbished soon, and we feel sure that you’ll appreciate the difference on your next visit!

This is a diamond resort timeshare complex set in a very exclusive area. The majority of units are 2 bed rooms. We stayed in a recently renovated diamond villa and it was superb. No expense spared, even down to the iPod docks in bedroom and lounge. The comfiest sun loungers ever. Being on 2 levels this felt like a real home away from home.
The pool is lovely, and there is a free shuttle bus to the beach. Or you can take your car (essential for this area) and pay to park in a covered car park. This is a nature reserve area as well as a golf area so there is plenty of beautiful plants and birds to see.
All of the staff who work on the resort are brilliant. Very helpful and friendly. Probably the best customer service I've had anywhere.
Only one odd thing, you need to bring your own beach/pool towels or rent from the resort. If you rent, you can wash them in your villa(washer/dryer in kitchen) or pay to get a fresh one.

Stayed here three years ago, in a two bed villa, one double room, and second room with single beds. Two bathrooms, which is always an advantage. Supermarket we found was a bit pricey, but as you are a captive audience, stick to the 'local' stuff, avoid UK names, and you can eat cheaply in your villa. We found the kitchen area to be fully furnished, (i'm no Delia) and I managed to whip up some meals with no real angst. The pool area has a restaurant and bar above it, it's nicely done, and was not too expensive. There are a couple of restaurants to use on site, if you don't fancy driving, but if you like to see a bit of the place, you CAN walk down the road, about 45 minutes, and arrive into the town, it's not a killer, but equally NOT for the faint hearted. Returning, it's about 1 1/2 hours! Staff are very friendly, little bar by reception does great cocktails and beer, and we would happily return here for another holiday, it was very relaxing and I can't think why I didn't write a review before. It's great for families and couples, and the villa's and common parts are well maintained. Happy to recommend.
