“Very relaxing place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2012

We recently stayed here for a short break in late March. We enjoyed every minute of our stay here from check in to check out. I was a little anxious when i viewed our apartment from the outside as it looked a little run down as it was one of the older properties, but i needn't have been as it was absolutely beautiful inside and had a lovely terrace and patio furniture. The only complaint that I'd have with the apartment is that the bed wasn't all that comfortable - other than that it had all mod cons. Although the main pool for the resort was closed for renovation during our visit the replacement at the tennis club was adequate and in any case the beach at the resort is beautiful. Due to the time of the year we stayed several of the restaurants near the beach were closed but those that were open, particularly Monty's served beautiful food at reasonable prices. Food at the resort dining area was nice too and generally there was a good buzz around here with the many golfers playing at the resort. I played both the Royal and Ocean course which were brilliant but HARRRRD! All the staff we encountered throughout our stay were very pleasant and helpful. with regard to wi-fi there is a charge of €10 per day to have it in your room (it's free in Monty's) and in any case the business centre is good. Gym and leisure facilities are top class (there is an additional charge to use these), and it's a great resort to go for a run around if you're feeling guilty and need to burn off excess calories- as I did! The bus shuttle service to and from the apartments is excellent also. Will definitely be back.

We had a great holiday at the Vale do Lobo. We had booked an appartment but on arrival we were upgraded to a 1 bedroom villa with roof terrace, sun deck and jacuzzi overlooking the golf course which is more than we could ever have wished for! I have never stayed somewhere so spacious and luxurious! The beach was quite far from our Villa so we had to order one of the Vale do Lobo minibuses to take us there and pick us up. The beach quite busy but nice and the water is warm. The restaurants at the Vale do Lobo are great. We played tennis a few times although this did get booked up during the most popular times (early morning/evening) so a couple of times we tried to play in the midday heat which probably wasn't the best idea. The most disappointing things were the gym, which lacked any good equipment and the fact that the supermarket shop on the resort was quite expensive and did not have a very varied range of food so you were limited to what you could buy if you did not eat out at a restaurant. We went as a couple but I think the Vale do Lobo would be great for families with young kids as well as there are many different activities they can get involved with. We hired a car one day to explore the Algarve and took a couple of recommendations from the staff at reception as to where we should drive to and I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the general area, it was very built up and touristy, so after that exploratory trip we stayed in the resort for the rest of the week which was much more relaxing and pleasant. I am sure there are nice places in the Algarve to visit but we just didn't find them. Therefore, if you are looking for a luxurious break, you like sports and beach activities, nice food and general luxury, I would recommend the Vale do Lobo but it is probably not the best place to get a real sense of Portugal.

We have stayed at the resort each year for several years and never been disappointed. My wife and I only rent a standard 1-bedroom apartment for a few days each January but the overall standard of service cannot be faulted and all of the staff are courteous and helpful. There are cheaper places to stay but if you are visiting the Algarve in low season and want to be sure of staying somewhere that is not cold or damp and where reception/housekeeping will resolve any problems within minutes, this is a place to consider.

This was our first time in Vale do Lobo and we will definitely be going back. Lots of fun and relaxation at your fingertips!

I loved VDL as it seems to have something for everyone, the main pool is lovely, the golf courses are brilliant, the grounds well maintained and staff are very friendly. Great place for all ages to enjoy. The Spa at the Golf club is a must!

There is a great buzz in the Praca area both day and night.

We rented Villa 989B - it was perfect, as close to heaven on earth you can get! We spent one week here, and loved every day of it!!!! 2 large size bedrooms over 3 floors, great pool, just across the road from the tennis centre and 10 min walk to the beach. It’s got AC throughout and three different terraces!!!!! The villa came with broadband and cable which was great for the Rugby World Cup games!!. The Jacuzzi and BBQ terrace on the top floor was amazing and made for some great nights in.

The Villa's owners are Members of the VDL Resort. This means that you can receive discounts for free transport around resort, activities including great discounts on the golf courses & free access to the pool, other discounts on shopping and even food and drink on the resort!!!

All in all I would def recommend VDL and villa 989B.

This resort is as close to heaven on earth you can get!
We spent one week here, and loved every day of it!

Excellent apartments, pools, employes, and golf courses!!
Good restaurants and a magical beach!

But be sure to get the "RESORT CARD" or it will be very expensive...
This gives you 50% on the golf courses, free access to the pool, and much more!

We will have been to VDL 12 times over the last 20 years staying at various places. We like it because it is of an excellent standard and is safe and private. The Praca is good although eating there is expensive for what you are getting! We generall head outside the area to some very good local retaurants towards Almancil and then go back and sit at the pancake place and listen to the live music. The beech is fine with plenty of space to lounge.

The last few times we have been we ave seen roadworks around the resort which seems to get completed very slowly. This year they had also just installed parking fee machines near the waterfront which seems a bit of a rip off.

A good palce to go if you are not on too much of a budget.

Have been to Vale do Lobo year after year and always have lots of fun and relaxation!
Great place for all ages to enjoy - the golf courses are v.good, Barringtons also has a driving range.
The Spa at the Golf club is a must! just go and try it! v.relaxing
If you fancy splashing out on a very nice meal try the Alambique it will not disappoint! Equally the pizzeria in Quinta shopping is perfect for a pizza and beer
We rented Villa 910 - it was perfect, 3 lovely size bedrooms, great pool, just across the road from the tennis center and 10 min walk to the beach - would def recommend it. Its got AC throughout even marble floors. The plunge pool and BBQ made for some great nights in.
All in all would def recommend VDL and villa 910
