Stayed for a short break with the children (aged7) at half term as a last minute thing and really loved it here. Apartment was a 2bedroomed one, nicest apartment I have stayed in, really spacious, very clean, as was everywhere on the complex. Pool was cold but swimming possible after initial shock! Food was o.k but if I were to go again I would probably stock up and do more self catering as children and myself are quite fussy. The beach was very close by and beautiful, lots of shells to keep the children amused too. Ideal place to relax but we did use a hire car to go out and explore the area a bit of an evening. Would stay again, and wish we could have stayed longer this time.

One of the best hotels of this type that we have ever stayed at. E-mails promptly replied to before start of holiday even though they were drafted in English.
Excellent, spacious and well equipped apartment (note no oven in our apartment though there was a microwave, 4 ring hob, large fridge and freezer)
Superb breakfast provided with daily full English breakfast option - even the bacon was better than that usually experienced on the continent.
We were even provide with a 'grab and go' breakfast on the morning of our departure.
Lovely large outside swimming pool and excellent children's play area (pool not heated)
Very helpful and courteous staff.
Short walk to a beach. Wi-Fi quite expensive at €9 a day (used McDonalds!)
Located in a quiet area so you will definitely need a car - car rental quite cheap if booked before visit (collect at Faro airport), Locating the hotel after dark on arrival proved problematic mainly because our satnav brought from the UK did not have all the minor roads in the database.
Aldi and other supermarkets at nearby town of Almancil
Superb outdoors go-kart track near Almancil. Vila Moura is a 'must' to visit

We ( a group of four golfers) stayed here recently for 4 nights and were pleasantly surprised with the size, cleanliness and quality of the 1 bedroom apartments. They were spacious and very comfortable - and the ground floor position was a bonus.
The bar area was very comfortable and pleasant although quite small and limited if a lot of people were present re seating etc. Happy hour was a welcome bonus.
The breakfast buffet was more than adequate with plenty of choice and all freshly prepared and well presented - the only quibble was that hot drinks were provided by way of a drinks machine which was just about ok.
The staff were extremely helpful and very welcoming on the front desk and room staff cleaned and tidied the room each day to a high standard.
The only drawback from our perspective was that we chose to travel by taxi and without a hire car the location is somewhat remote and not easy to access other localities other than by cab at some expense.
We have stayed previously at the Dona Filipe and our preference would be to return there.

Stayed here for 3 nights recently. Sadly the weather was not so good but we did manage to get out for a wonderful walk around the reserve which was beautiful. The 1 bedroom apartment was spacious and very clean, we chose to eat at the hotel on the first evening, service was attentive and the food was quite good. The hotel is geared towards golfers and is clearly perfect given the previous comments, sadly over the weekend we stayed it was very noisy with late night/early morning revellers returning to try to find their rooms, it was just like an inner city Travelodge! If you don't play golf and the weather is not so good, there is little to do here and with only a very small lounge/TV area which was packed, the only alternative is back to your room if you dont want to drive elsewhere. The 3 night stay with breakfast was well priced but food and drink in the hotel is fairly expensive. Car hire is essential to get out and explore.
The 3 star rating is really for the experience we had, expecting peace and tranquility in a beautiful area the hotel did not deliver on this occasion, but if this does not deter you then at £75 a night BB it is a good price to see the area.

Room Tip: 2nd floor Pool view was nice as able to watch sunset over the sea, but could be noisy as near outsid...

We enjoyed our stay at the Formosa the staff are helpful and friendly, breakfasts were good and an excellent choice of food for all tastes.
The rooms are roomy and well laid out but be warned the sofa beds are not comfortable and a couple of our party found theirs were broken. That said everthing was very clean and the sheets and towels changed every day we were all impressed with the housekeeping. The location of the Hotel does mean you need a car to get to most bars and restaurants the beach is just a 10 minute walk and you will find places to eat there in the daytime. A good selection of golf course, with a 20 minute drive.

Room Tip: If you are in a party it may well be worth booking an apartment with lounge and 2 bedrooms.

This aparthotel is perfect as there is a very large lounge area, huge kitchen and a twin bedroom each side of the living area each with own bathroom. Thus it is ideal for two couples sharing or a group of friends. We were on a golfing break and superb courses are nearby. Breakfast is excellent, the pool area well provided with loungers and kept spotless. There is a bar on the pool terrace but set apart behind plants etc so reasonably quiet and a nice place to have a snack. The area is beautiful and as it is in a natural reserve avoids the excessive development of much of the Algarve. Visit Tavira, Olhao and old Faro, all worth the trip.

Room Tip: All are good as far as we can tell but one away from the pool area is good as golf ears in groups ca...

Just returned from a fabulous golfing break in Portugal. We stayed at the excellent Formosa Park where the staff and facilities are excellent. Nothing is too much trouble. Golf at San Lorenzo and Pinheros Altos IS UNBELIEVABLE. The greens are like ligtening and the views breathtaking. I will never golf in Spain again. We are already planning to return again next year. If you get the chance to go here take it. I promise you will not be dissapointed.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool facing room.
