“Very nice but not perfect”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2012 via mobile

We stayed the last week in October with our 15 yr old son and the first thing to note is that over 12 yr olds are required to have a room of their own. The tropical gardens are lush and beautiful, providing lovely aspects from the balcony (sea views are sideways on), from the breakfast terrace, pool (cold) and many seating areas. The staff are excellent and so friendly. Hotel is scrupulously clean. Without a car, and a few days of rain, there wasn't much to do other than the indoor pool and the table tennis, which was taken away when the hotel hosted a conference, despite twice asking if it could be relocated. We found the restaurant excellent although quite expensive if a la carte, averaging 150 euros for 3 and drinking water, not wine. Next time we would opt for half-board as not many other options nearby. Despite rave reviews, we didn't like Julia's at all - def not fine dining, children running around and tv's on. (107 euros).Would recommend walking 30 mins along beach, skimming stones, for lunch at Sandbanks at Vale do lobo, where there is a great crazy golf course too. Fruit and water and port in room and chocolate on pillows are a lovely touches. Beach is 10mins walk away along residential road and miles in each direction.

We stay at the hotel twice a year, as we have done for a number of years now, and our latest visit was as good as always, from the pick-up at the airport, to check-in and being allocated a comfortable, redecorated room.

All management and staff, whether at the front desk, pool-side bar, restaurant, lobby bar and room maids are friendly, efficient and can always be relied upon to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

We look forward to our return next year.

Room Tip: High floor rooms overlooking the pool tend to be better equiped than garden-facing rooms, and are ge...

We have just returned from 5 days at the Ria Park it felt much longer, it is the 3rd time we have stayed at the hotel and I can honestly say that the hotel lives up to its stars. The staff are extremely polite and friendly, nothing is too much trouble, the hotel was busy with a conference taking place however the service maintained its level. The rooms are lovely and special touches such as water in your room and the maid coming in at night to turn your bed down and leave you a chocolate represents the sort of standards that make a stay so relaxing and enjoyable. We only stayed B&B this time, we had lunch in the hotel each day which was lovely. We will definitely return in future.

Room Tip: Location means you need a car or taxi to get to other restaurants, there is a shuttle bus to the bea...

My fiancé and I stayed for 7 nights. The good points are the location, the breakfast, the pool and loungers and very friendly, helpful staff.

I was very disappointed with the bedroom. We had booked a ‘double room’ with a garden view. The beds were two large singles pushed together with very hard uncomfortable mattresses and no attempt to make them stay together to appear double. The pillows were terrible. Despite asking for another pillow and one being provided swiftly – it was just as bad.

I asked at reception if all of the beds in the rooms were two singles and they said yes – apart from the suites. I said that they were uncomfortable for a couple on a 7 night holiday and I was told by the front desk; “well you need to use your imagination”. Disappointed.

Dear guests,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay with us and please accept our sincere apologies for what we consider is an unacceptable response by a member of our staff and a behavior not representative of the level of service we continuously strive to offer all our guests.

Apart from Twin rooms, we also have Double rooms, so we do not understand how a member of our staff, which you kindly review as very friendly and helpful, would give such a response. Again, we present our sincere apologies for the inconvenience this has caused and have taken measures for the situation not to repeat itself in the future.

We thank you for your sincere and honest opinion of your stay and hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the near future.

On behalf of the entire staff,
Manuel Baltazar

We stayed here for 5 nights in August and were very impressed.
The hotel is very clean and well decorated. It is probably a 4 star hotel not a 5 star, but lovely because it was not intimidating with friendly staff who are there to help you not to pester you. It is ideally located for the beaches and restaurants, although i definitely recommend hiring a car.

We had 3 rooms, 2 of which were inter-connecting. We were impressed by the TV as they had a lot of English channels. The rooms were spacious, and had all the facilities we needed with nice clean and modern bathrooms. The maids came in twice a day to change the towels and turn down the beds which was impressive.

The buffet breakfast was delicious with a big selection of hot and cold food with yummy pastries!

Because of the gorgeous beach we didn't actually stay by the pool but there was always enough sun loungers.

We visit Portugal regularly and have always stayed in Villas so we were nervous about staying in a hotel but were all pleasantly surprised and will definitely be returning!

Overall, we had a really good stay at Ria Park hotel and recommend it highly!

Room Tip: We stayed on the ground floor which was very comfortable and conveniently located, but i think all t...

My husband & I stayed here at the end of July, we have visited Portugal many times mainly staying in Vilamoura so we wanted a change of scene. We were delighted with this hotel choice. The room was on the 4th floor, I had asked for sea view & what a superb view we had. The bed was a bit firm for me but housekeeping brought me a mattress topper within minutes of asking, along with extra coat hangers. We were only there for 5 nights and ate in the restaurant on our 1st night. The set price was 35 euros each but we were surprised by the 5 courses we were served, so great value. The staff in the restaurant were so attentive that my husband even got into trouble for filling our own wine/water glasses up himself!
We had a day at the beach which was super, a bit of a walk along a wooded walkway, take your own water as you have to go back along it if you need to go to the shop for some.
We spent the other days round the pool, again helpful staff, Bruno soon got the plan of bringing us 2 beers & a bottle of water! Nothing was too much trouble, it was a pleasure to stay here. Yes you have to pay for taxis to go anywhere because there is not many restaurants around. Can recommend Mr Freddies, 5 mins up the road towards Almancil & La Cabane Quarteira, 20 mins but worth the drive. The laundry service at the hotel was excellent & well priced.Thank you to Manuel & your staff for making our short break great.
