“Good food and wine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

Food was very good and the wine list too - buy the local wines as there is no need to spend a silly amount to get a decent bottle, so that's a nice change.

Service was a tad variable - moving from over-attentive to absent. Perhaps it was a bit of an off day, but it was not busy so I think there are a few 'management' issues in the back room.

Good touch to offer a glass of sthg 'on the house' when the bill arrived (eventually).

Recommended but with some reservations (pardon the pun)

“Quirky, different and delicious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

This delightful little family run restaurant is a welcome departure from the many restaurants on the Algarve seeking the business of tourists. It is favoured by locals and on the evening we dined there we were aware of a number of different nationalities enjoying superb food at reasonable prices. Finding it proved tricky but the helpful and charming maitre d was more than happy to talk us in on the phone. The service is quirky but friendly. I've noted other reviewers being unhappy about their food being shown to other customers and a tendency to push the house wines but we found these features quaint and inoffensive. The food itself was delicious, the service was attentive and the bill very reasonable. It's no surprise that this restaurant is so highly rated on TA and it's well worth a visit.

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2013

This is now our third time at Malveiro - and it never disappoints! The owner chef is very hospitable, and works his craft well - he works the front of house as well and it makes for a very pleasant and personal dining experience. The Mozambique curries are delicious - just like my Mum used to make having lived in Kenya - creamy with every spice added combining to make a distinctive flavour - nothing like the average curry. Thank you for another lovely evening.

“Excellent Family Run Restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013

Rated the best restaurant in Almancil by TA and I think its much better than that.
Very family friendly, deeply laid back and very hospitable. The owners family serve, cook and front house. I had halibut in a coconut sauce with some rice, delicious and not too creamy. The rest of the mob enjoyed some very lean steak, giant prawns and a chicken curry which was delicately flavoured. I feasted on fig and almond ice-cream for desert. They run two sittings each night which are usually full. We were lucky to get in off the street. Superb restaurant.Oh and the house white was really good.
