We visited in may and were really excited after reading the reviews on tripadvisor .We visit the algarve at least 5 times a year and are familiar with the restaurants mainly at the other end . I would say the food was poor we had the covert to start and the sausage they served was full of bone and gristle so much so it made me gag this was followed by sea bass in their special sauce all I can say is the sauce tasted suspiciously like Heinz salad cream miwed with milk and heated up ... Quite revolting . The thing that shocked me most was when they bought your food they took it round the restaraunt showing the other diners what you had ordered I appreciate they are proud of their food but I don't appreciate my dinner being passed around .There are many great places to eat in the area I wish we had given this one a wide berth

Tried this restaurant based on the trip advisor rank. We were the first customers to arrive that evening and were treated to consistently superb service all night. Excellent home cooked style food. Portion sizes were just right, pleasing choice on the menu. The owners showed off every dish as it was served, made their own wine, served up lots of little treats between courses.
We had a great evening, slow delicious dining in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. You will need a car to get there, its quite a way outside almancil and its not cheap, but definitely worth it, treat yourself! Go early and plan to make an evening of it, dont rush.

Selected this restaurant based on Trip Advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. Very unique and enjoyable experience. Would not hesitate to use it again. Food and service excellent, in fact it was spot on!

We were staying in Quinta Do Lago and came here half way through our holiday after reading trip advisor reviews! The meal was fantastic from start to finish, starting with the wonderful warm welcome we received from the owner and ending with a warm goodbye from him, met at the front door and said goodbye to at the front door! The food was superb! They would show you the food before they gave it to whoever had ordered it so you could see what you could order! The covers were delicious, goats cheese with honey, chorizo and the vegetable and nut starter were all delicious! The starters of samosa and prawn surprise were divine and for our mains we had the veal casserole and the kid casserole and they were both outstanding. To finish we had the almond and honey tart which was amazing. I particularly enjoyed the fact that we weren't allowed to have the bill until we excepted a complimentary spirit! :) ask to sit in the conservatory area! gorgeous white washed tables and chairs, sweet little birds and books on shelves!

This is my husbands favourite restaurant .....it is cosy and Lionel and staff make any visit most enjoyable. They are very welcome and even make their own wine...which is excellent. The kid falls off the bone and is a recommended dish...try the veal casserole which is amazing...and the baked fish....and the starters....well just about everything is excellent!
