Will put a review both here and at the 'old' Waves location on the site, as the guys at Paixa have as of a week ago taken over at Waves in addition to running their existing location here. From the old reviews everyone seemed to agree that the location on the beach at Praia do Ancao of the old Waves and especially the uber funky contemporary building were amazing, but what was sadly lacking was a restaurant worthy of the place. We can't comment not having been when it was under previous management, but having eaten at the new Waves one week after the takeover, all we can say is GET HERE! It's perfect. Take a sundowner on the roof and watch the sun go down as you pick from your menu. Then head downstairs for a tapas treat. We'd recommend the black pig and apple, the prawns, the salmon mouse, the ham, and the manchego, all delicious, exciting and perfectly presented by the smartest and most attentive staff you could hope to meet. And given the surroundings, amazingly reasonable - three cold tapas, four hot tapas, a dessert, two coffees and two bottles of mid tier wine came to a pretty reasonable 120 Europe ex service. Can't fault it, a memorable night. Thanks guys for looking after us so well and we really, really hope the new venture is a success - you so deserve it.
