“Julias”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

Have been visiting Julias since the mid 1980s. Whilst the food and service has always been excellent, the prices now are very reasonable and with the uninterrupted seaview it is always a pleasure to eat and drink there.

“Take time to chill out”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

We've been going to Julias on every Algarve holiday once or twice a year since the children were little. We have always had a great time there with good food and wine being served by attentive and friendly staff. Typically we tend to go on a Sunday lunchtime and enjoy the guitar playing singers entertainment - although his repertoire can be a little bit samey!

The atmosphere is always great and the views from the terrace fantastic. We've recommended it to friends and colleagues to whom Julias has also become a firm favourite.

A great place to chill out over a long leisurely lunch or dinner.

“Terrible service and food”
Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

We had a simple lunch. Baguettes and toasties for kids. Staff not interested in serving, just want to chat at bar to each other. Baguettes were soft, tasteless, 1 miserable piece of Lettuce in each one. Nothing on side. €7 each? Never again. Izzys next door is a lot better.

thank you for your review.

When an issue is brought to the attention of our staff at the time, then the situation will be dealt with immediately. We will gladly change your meal but will not be intimidated.
It is impossible to deal with something after the event and most people can understand that.
The menus have prices printed quite clearly and do not change. The prices all include VAT which is a government indirect tax which is currently at 23%.
You could have raised the issue at the time but decided to air your opinion here,to which you are entitled.
In respect of my staff chatting to each other, which would have been during business hours, I do not think that this would have been detrimental in any way towards yourself.
We are busy and do not stop from 10 am to midnight nearly every night and if you felt that my staff should have not been "chatting" then we can only apologise for that faux pas but my staff look after our clients in every possible way from start to finish and to be honest, when every customer looks content, I actually do allow them to chat to each other as the beach bar is an informal place.
If one has a preference for another establishment (which by the way do not serve snacks at all) I would concentrate on them , rather than some ridiculous dig at my staff and business.

“Do you have the time?”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

Took family with grandchildren (5 yrs and nearly 3) because of location including children's playground. Aware that service can be slow but tonight waited 3/4 hr before anyone came to take our order. Food arrived after 1 and 1/2 hrs and was very disappointing. Had intended to order desserts but, with two young children, this was not a good idea. Even had to wait longer than we should have for the bill. Only able to make our getaway when husband went to the bar to pay. A really disappointing evening.

“Tired”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

I have been to Julia's for many years, well before the Ria Park Hotel was built, when nothing but a mud track took you to the beach through woods. Over the years Julia's has changed with the amount of new villas and opening up the Dunas and surrounding areas. It was a place you needed 'to find' whereas now it serves a vast community of rental villas, hotels and has grown in size accordingly. Sadly it has lost much of the personal touch. The staff, many of whom have been there years, don't seem to try so hard. The food is ok but pricey. Every restaurant around has the freshest fish, the biggest prawns, it is what sets them apart makes the difference. My suggestion would be try Temperus beach restaurant at Trafal beach, a lovely beach used mainly by locals next to Val do Lobo. It is like Julia's was. Nice service, beautiful view. João Passos (Dois Passos) also an excellent beach restaurant, though they take cash only!
