“Fabulous!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2013

What a beautiful restaurant this is. It's a gorgeous setting. We sat outside surrounded by beautiful flowers, a pretty fountain and it was charming. The food was delicious, the service faultless and a true treat!
It's expensive but well worth it!
They don't take reservations over the web for some reason so you need to phone.

“Elegant food, beautifully presented”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

I have visited this restaurant several times over the years, and never been disappointed. The setting is gorgeous. We had booked a table in the courtyard which is beautiful, walls covered with vivid flowers and a charming fountain. We chose to have a pre dinner drink in the garden and decide on our meal and order there. So many tempting choices. I had the cod carpaccio. It was beautifully seasoned, and a nice light starter. My main course was monkfishwith a Thai curry sauce and rice. There was just enough flavour of green Thai curry, without over spicing it, or masking the monkfish flavour. The raspberry desert is a great favourite. As repeat visitors, we are always warmly welcomed, and I find the service friendly and efficient. I do feel the prices are on the high side, but I suppose like always, you get what you pay for.

“Still the best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2013

Over the years Pequeno Mundo has made such an impression on us that when we came to renovating the courtyard at home we installed a fountain. The courtyard dining area setting at Pequeno Mundo is special as is the garden area where we ate this time surrounded by the scent of the bright Algarve flowers. If only we had the same climate in Dorset. Traditionally we try to go on the last night of our holiday as the crowning glory, and to date we have never been disappointed. Mine host is unflappably cool and takes a great pride in his product. He is supported by a great chef and a female sommelier. I chose the elted goat's cheese in puff pastry with cream of chives (€9.50) as my starter which was absolutely delicious. The puff pastry was incredibly light and the chive sauce perfect to set off the two roundels of goat's cheese. I decide to share a chateaubriand with bearnaise sauce and saute potatoes with garlic (€58) with my daughter. We mutually like a medium rare steak so we were perfectly matched. It was excellent and of very high quality with the potatoes being the ideal accompaniment for us both. We had a variety of wines but I particularly liked the Lagoalva de coma 2011 Chardonnay (€27.50). We had another excellent evening overall and when next in Portugal we shall certainly return.

“Pleased to be back”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2013

Pleased to return to an old favourite. The only drawback was that we could not eat out in the courtyard since the weather had been poor before we arrived.
The welcome was lovely and the menu is always the same. In some restaurants that would be a negative, but since we only return once a year, it is something to look forward to. The decor is very traditional but that is part of the charm.
Good wine advice and attentive service as always!

“Super (again)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2013

We ate here twice on this holiday and as usual the food was superb. The décor while old fashioned demonstrates the restaurant’s confidence that you will return for the food, service and ambience. Management is friendly; service is professional though perhaps a little aloof. The court yard where you can eat out doors and the terrace for pre-dinner drinks are both wonderful. The clientele seems a little on the older side with some parties of business people. We love this restaurant and for excellent food on a special or happy occasion this is your place!
