“Very expensive!!”
Reviewed June 29, 2014 via mobile

I totally agree with all the comments about the setting, dining under the fig tree is very special and I can see why many are attracted to visit. Staff are very friendly, especially the female waitresses who smiled throughout the evening!

We decided to celebrate our anniversary dinner here and opted for prawns to start then Chateaubriand for two. The prawns were very tasty however we were quite disappointed with the main course, which was very tough and really needed a steak knife to cut through it! Not the tenderloin perfection we expected. I think at around €60 per head and that's with only one glass of wine, the food was a bit overpriced for the overall quality on the night!

We were going to say something on leaving but unfortunately we had quite an obnoxious couple sat next to us who made us feel quite uncomfortable during the evening, so opted to pay and leave.

It is worth a visit, if you don't mind paying a high price.

Reviewed June 18, 2014

Get a table under the fig tree on a warm summers evening, a bottle of wine and a lovely meal. What more could you ask for!
A good menu and lovely attentive staff makes for a superb evening

“Excellent restaurant”

A nice restaurant where you can sit outside, the food (fish and meat) was really good. Great value for a little price.

“Great food and beautiful setting.”

Comfortable and relaxed dining under a fig tree, with attentive and friendly service to boot. Sizzling prawns to start were accompanied by a fantastic sauce which deserved every bit mopped up with the plentiful supply of bread. Fish of the day - Grouper - to follow which was cooked perfectly. With our preferred Rosé out of stock the staff were happy to open an alternative bottle for us to try and were not phased when we opted for a white instead after tasting. Would highly recommend for friends, couples and families - not one to miss.

“Fig "Gem"”
Reviewed April 26, 2014 via mobile

Just back from this restaurant and thought it worthy of positive praise. I went with my wife and two children for dinner and was a little apprehensive as I had been told it could be a bit on the pricey side. The overall experience was very enjoyable and for me it represented good value for money.
We ate inside as it is still early in the season so didn't get to dine under the figs. The room inside is unusual with a high rustic style roof and is quite charming.
The servers were very professional and courteous and we received several visits throughout the evening from the owner of the establishment, Jacqueline, who was an excellent hostess.
The house rose and red wine was very good and the food was to a very high standard. The rib eye steak was superb and the duck confit was delicious. The kids worked off the starter menu and were delighted with their smoked salmon ravioli with vermouth sauce and sizzling prawns piri piri. These piri prawns were great and the sauce was well mopped up with some lovely fresh bread.

We really felt very welcome and we all agreed it was our favourite restaurant in the area. I particularly liked the complimentary amuse bouche and complimentary port. Although it was dear enough, we didn't feel short changed and will definitely be going back the next time we are in the area?
