“Love this place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

Basically a shack on stilts overlooking the beach which I totally love. Cash only so take plenty. Ask them if they have small fishes to start. If they have their great sort of like largish whitebait. Main courses recommend the big sea bass if there's two of you. Lobster is done to perfection but be careful on the size. Mine was eyewateringly expenisive but worth it offset slightly be a decent green wine for €15 a bottle. Warning. May not be there anymore. Apparently despite bing there for 20 years it's in breech of planning consent and needs to be moved. Owner told me he wasn't sure he could be bothered.

“Expensive but lovely”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2013

5th time at 2 Passos. Shared the terrace with Ms Judith Chalmers (of 'Wish You Were Here' fame). Food is great, ambience, view is really spectacular but it is very expensive. Fresh fish is around Eur 100 for a family of 4 but you do get rice, potatoes and tomatoes with that. Plus wine, water, desserts, bread etc, its toppy for sure. NOTE THAT THEY ONLY TAKE CASH. This is common at the beach restaurants. You know what, the whole area is expensive but its popular so they can charge more. Second time seeing a 'celeb' at the restaurant and we will go back because we enjoy it so much.

“Poor value for money”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

Came here after being warned that it's a bit overpriced and only have ourselves to blame. The food was good and the view is to die for but we paid EUR150 for two of the smallest lobsters I have ever seen- they were barely big enough to count as a starter. We will not go back.

P.S. they do not take any cards as payment so make sure you have cash or you'll have to go back to pay.

“Excellent fresh fish”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2013

We found Praia do Ancao beach by accident and this was the nearest restaurant to where we parked so ended up here by luck. We had not booked so had to eat after 3pm (second sitting) as the first sitting was fully booked. As a result, it was quite quiet by then (see photo) and we had most of the waiting staff to ourselves and, therefore, great service. We had a plates of Sardines, grilled squid and whitebait as starters, all of which were excellent. The whitebait were presented on cocktail sticks as kebabs - very clever, and quite delicious. All the starters were excellent. The sardines were very fresh, and the squid literally melted in your mouth. For the main course three of us shared a grilled sea bass which was excellent, served with lovely brown rice which seemed to be one of their specialities. Two of my younger sons had chicken and turkey dishes which we would advise you avoid. There was nothing wrong with it, but this is a fish restaurant and this is what they do best! If you like fish, I would highly recommend this restaurant, but it was not cheap. If we went back we would not bother with two courses, you don't really need it. f I had to choose between a starter and a main I would probably recommend you share a large fish as a mail course. Finally, they do NOT take credit cards here, cash only, so be prepared.

“Amazing views and great fish”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

A superb position on the edge of the sand dunes. We had a wonderful table on the balcony (they all are), and had some of the freshest fish I have had in ages. No childrens menu, so kids will need to share dishes. Expensive, but very special. Cash only!
