“Extremely small room, excellent food”
Reviewed March 27, 2011

If you go for the food, this is a great choice. The rooms on the other hand are extremely small, even for Norwegian hotels. For an american - it is like a shoebox :) Clean and ok standard, but to small to be anything else than a place to sleep - in a single bed, not a queen. The food is excellent, lunch buffe with oysters and lots of variety.
You will probably end up here because you are on a meeting or conference, nothing else is around so this is it! No gym, but nice are for walking.
I would recommend the food - not the rooms.....

I stayed at this hotel for one night during a conference through my job.
The best thing about the hotel was the food. The lunch buffet was excellent - with good variation and delicious food. The three course meal in the evening was also superb, with gourmet food and wine.

The room was a disappointment.
- The lamp in the ceiling just inside the door was not working.
- My towel had holes in it.
- The bathroom lamp was broken, and just the bulb was showing.
- The room was tiny with little space to hang clothes. Some hooks would have been great in the lack of chairs to put clothes on for the night.

I reported the lamp not working to the reception who said she would go down and change the bulb. I don't know if anything was actually done, as the lamp was out the whole stay.

The area is nice, but most likely much nicer in the summer season. I went jogging along the coast in the evening - which was quite dark and my feet were wet with mud when I returned. The staff was very helpful in providing a copy of a map showing trails I could use on my jogging trip. They also lent me a vest with reflectors on it so I would be easily seen by cars in the autumn darkness. Excellent service in this area! I did wish that there had been a fitness center of pool there though, since the weather was just foggy and cold.

Another bummer was the internet. We got access as part of the conference. However, at midnight the code we had expired, and we had to get another one the next day. Would have been nice to check my email before the conference started the next morning - but oh well. Just an inconvenience.

As far as the conference part the hotel was excellent. We had fruit and snacks breaks provided, as well as coffee/tea when desired. The bathrooms outside the conference rooms had problems with the sinks - the water took forever to go out of the sink through the drain. Also, I could have wished for better air in the meeting room. Other than that it was clean and professional.

Parking right on the outside - however, when I arrived the lot was full. I was lucky and had a guest leave a few minutes after. However, the lot seemed to get fairly full because of the big numbers of conference guests.

Another minus is that it is not so easy to get to with public transportation.

This is a very typical conference hotel. I was here participating in a seminar and was very surprised to see how small the rooms were. Toilet and bathroom is awkwardly small and so are the rooms. The bed is comfy though.

Food is excellent whether it is dinner or breakfast or lunch.

Location is not easy at all. Nothing is in nearby. But the view of the fjord is great.

If you only need a bed, then have your stay here else you would like to review other options.

Rooms were very small, and somewhat tired.
Conference facilities are good.
Breakfast and lunch buffet is good, with an abundance of choices.
Dinner is OK, but nothing much.
Service good.

Main buidling has some character, and was infact used by the primeminister during German occupation in WW2 as is "Eagles Nest" (inspired by Hitler's way more famous version).

Location is off - nothing nearby, but the view is very nice.

I have to say that I agree with the last reviewer.
These were some of the smallest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in.
2 bags 1 person and that's it the room is full and you will be stepping over bags.
Food was ok but if you want a decent meal in Asker there is a little Italian restaurant at the Train station. Best place to go.

We were on our way for a ski vacation, so we had a lot of luggage. The room we booked for kr. 1.090 however, was so tiny that we were not able to place even one single suitcase in it.
An unfunny joke, this hotel! The bathroom has a sliding door that hits you in the face if you get out of bed the wrong way and it is very hard to make your way around the bed. I cannot believe that they can get three stars with rooms that size, maybe less than 9 square metres in total. Two avarage build persons must plan their movements in the batthroom or be stuck. You can only sell such room for half the price after a clear warning when booking.
