“Quiet and picturesque”
Reviewed June 10, 2010

Tornoalago apartments (also reviewed under Como/accomodations): We stayed in their annex apartment *Blanco' which is probably less stylish but very clean and private. Extremely quiet place as almost no cars in town and only 75 meters from the lake. The hosts Rainer & Cristina are exceptionally friendly and forthcoming; they gave good guidance on hiking routes and even provided a map free of charge. Torno is idyllic and a superbe base for daytrips by boat/car to the local villas/villages, to Como town or to the surrounding hills and mountains. Breakfast at Bar Italia is recommended, and so is dinner at Belvedere: Two fine places with tons of heritage and pride. Overall a 5* experience and definitely worth a retrial or indeed several.

“Bed and Breakfeast Torno alla Riva / Bar Italia”
Reviewed May 22, 2009

Nice and inexpensive Bed & Breakfeast. We had a beautiful, huge room on the first floor, over the restaurant/bar, at EUR 70,-. Great views onto the lake. Delicious breakfeast.

“Tornoalago, Torno, Lake Como, the secret place!”
Reviewed May 1, 2009

Torno is on Lake Como in Italy very near the principal city of Como, on the road towards Bellagio. Easily reached by bus or the regional boat service, it has long been a favorite of European holiday travelers. It is half the cost of Como and so much more quaint. With only 1500 residents and few hotels, few Americans know about it. Sting lived here for a while some years back, the Saudi Royal Family has maintained an estate for decades, and so have other influential people from around the world. Now guests can also enjoy the village.

A beautiful new collection of high quality, smaller accommodations has just opened under the banner of Tornoalago to bring a new level of excellence for visitors. Historic buildings have been on this lakeside site for hundreds of years. Beautiful remodeling and tasteful furnishings have transformed some of them in a wonderful way, with prices starting at less than 100 Euro per night. Part of the beauty of this village is that you will experience the real Italy, usually without hearing any other American tourists or even English language. Several of the staff at Tornoalago speak English fluently, as well as other languages, however.

So avoid the crowds and enjoy something really special!
