Description: "Cologne's chic gourmet set love meeting at the Trattoria Enoteca for lively lunches, chatty catch-ups and romantic tables for two. Tucked away inside the stately Grand Hotel Schloss Bensberg, the restaurant and its moreish Mediterranean menu attracts a well-coiffed international crowd and businessy types. Relaxed and homely – the interior at Trattoria Enoteca has lemon walls hand-painted with vines, ruby red curtains and potted palms, and the hearty Italian-led menu includes favourites such as the hand-tapped beef carpaccio with spinach salad, citrus olive oil, old balsamic and Parmesan cheese; the Amalfi lemon risotto; and the ragoût of organic lamb shoulder with egg, Parmesan and homemade oricchette noodles. If you are not in the mood to fine dime at the Vendome in Schloss Bensberg, the Enoteca is a great place to relax, eat and enjoy a good selection of wine. The prices are average for a brasserie type restaurant and the food is great, especially the meats. Lunch specials are available and the restaurant offers an open kitchen view of the chefs working whilst you eat. Would recommend it.

The Althoff hotels are mostly known for their star restaurants like the Vendome but their "second" restaurants are far from second rate. This is also true for the Trattoria Enoteca.
Even if the prices are at a pretty high level for "just an italian" restaurant you get what you pay for which in this case means wonderfully prepared food a very nice atmosphere a good service and in the end a nice evening.
You start with greetings from the kitchen with a lof of bread, some dips and some ham and salami and afterwards you are free to choose from a changing menu. They do not truly follow the italian setting of antipasti, primi and so on, more the German Starter, main course and dessert but they do also offer set menus with a fixed amount of courses.
Be aware of one thing, good kitchens sometimes has a tendency to smaller portions, this is certainly not the case here.
