“Nice from outside, very poor from inside.”
Reviewed July 17, 2012

Well, 3 EUR as entrance fee isn´t much, BUT: you have no guide, you´re just following the route and go thru interiors. Everything looks quite new, the renovation seems to be so perfect that you do not feel the "old castles smell" - which is bad. There are no interiors as you´re used to see from other castles. no furniture and paintings that seemed to just "hang to let people see them" - not a part of interior.

Simply said - there is a nice view from the tower, but interiors are very poor. looks like you have nothing, so you put at least two pieces and open for tourists.

“Simple hunting lodge situated in the hills of Binz”
Reviewed June 4, 2011

The Jagdschloss Granitz (Granitz Hunting Lodge) is situated in a wooded area in Ruegen on the outskirts of Binz. The lodge was built back in the mid 1830s for the Prince of Putbus. The lodge can be reached by either car or a "train on wheels" which picks you up at several locations in the city of Binz and runs throughout the day. During the tourist season the train will likely be busy, as it was full in early April which isn't the prime time for tourists.

The lodge gives visitors a glimpse of life back then and gives a good background of the history of the lodge. The lodge itself is simple compared to palaces and castles found elsewhere in Germany, but is nonetheless a definite must if you're in Binz. The highlight is the ability to go to the top of the tour, which on a nice day you can see miles in all directions offering beautiful views.

There is also the possibility when you are at the reservation desk to pick up a booklet in several different languages which will give a detailed account of the lodge. You can also walk thru the surroundings as well. There is a small playground for kids of all ages it seemed as well.
