“Good but not great.”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

Enjoyed the stay with some reservations.

Modern, convenient, friendly hotel but its excellent reviews are over generous and a few issues should be addressed.

Double bedroom was spacious, functional, quiet and warm but some of the furniture looked ready to be replaced. Bed linen was not changed until we asked after 4 days. So so quality bathroom toiletries and a shower cap was only provided on request. Bathroom could have been cleaned better. Wifi did not function properly in the rooms but there was a good connection in the lounge.

Dinners were satisfactory but not great with the emphasis more on quantity than quality. Desserts were generally ordinary. Breakfast was good but was very unimpressed to be charged extra for cappucinos without any warning. This is mean! Afternoon tea and coffee is available but not complimentary; there was no cake but biscuits are served.

There is a small spa and pool.

Service was always very friendly and helpful.

Overall it felt like a 3.5 star hotel and not a 4 star experience.

Wonderful hotel in beautiful Lech. Location on perimiter of town makes for privacy & quiet, even though it's located on the main drag. Comfortable rooms; excellent breakfast buffet w/ fresh cooked eggs to order. Beautiful, small pool w/ spotless sauna & steam.Have stayed here at least 5 times- NEVER disappointed. Marion Gafko (owner) & her team provide superlative service & individual attention. You won't find better in Lech!

Room Tip: My preference: 23 or 23A

We have just returned from a wonderful Christmas holiday spent at the Hotel Elisabeth in Lech. Ski solutions suggested this hotel as we were a family of 4 adults looking for a traditional and cosy chalet style hotel with all the facilities, Swimming pool Sauna etc. The staff were all beautifully dressed in the traditional Austrian costumes, and were charming and attentive at all times. The 5 course dinners every night were delicious and elegantly presented, with a special Christmas eve party for all the guest (Father Christmas popped in with his sack). The breakfast menu was perfect for everyone's taste and there really was so much choice and always home made biscuits and cakes on offer to snack on. Very clean rooms and linen and beds turned back every evening. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a home from home experience.

Room Tip: Maybe ask not to be near the river if you like having the window open as it is quite a fast flowin r...

March 2012. Booked through Ski Solutions. We aren't usual hotel visitors on ski trips, often preferring chalets or self-catered. This visit has changed our outlook. From arrival to departure on our week long stay the staff could not do enough to help - better than that, not once would you have thought they wanted to be anywhere else - and this coming from a cynic. We had no idea the food would be so plentiful and to such a high standard. The room and facilities were better than I had reviewed on this website and others.

Expect to buy wine at nothing less than €28 per bottle. Those are the only extras you need to consider. There are no nights off for the staff - so no need (or desire) to go hunting for other eateries, get your variety at lunchtime and make sure you look for the perfectly Austrian lunch spots - Hotel Ilga in OberLech was my favorite.

The pool is a plunge pool really, not for lapping - which you'll gather from their website, and it has jets built into the pool rather than a separate jacuzzi. The steam room & sauna were fine.

It isn't ski in / ski out but it is close to the lifts (about 150m) and there's no need to rent a locker.

The other guests were a mix between small groups of up to 4 people, couples, families of adults - not many young ones, not that I would foresee any issues with young ones. We ourselves were two couples. All seemed perfectly happy. Civilised it was, rather than raucous, but it was relaxed and plenty of laughter around, so not stuffy or pretentious.

We'd go back. Pretty good value too - for Lech ;)

Room Tip: We were lucky to have a balcony, most don't - not that you need it. No real recommendations but...

We stayed in this hotel for the first time in Jan 2012, indeed it was our first visit to Lech ski resort and we booked through Crystalski choosing half board accommodation. We were met at reception by the charming owner Marion Gafgo and her staff who quickly sorted us out with the keys to our rooms. We were a party of seven adults so had booked 3 double rooms and a single. Our room(20) was just as expected, bright, spotless and spacious and quiet. The bathroom was spotless and well lit. Little disappointed that we did not have a flat screen TV, just an old bulky one but you know what?.... it doesn't really matter...In fact I liked that the TV was situated in the little 'lounge' area of the room as it meant that hubby could watch sport with the sound turned down while I could read my book in bed at night. I had a look at our friends double room on floor 1 and it was a mirror image of ours. Our single friend had a room on the second floor down the corridor from us which was a good size for a single room again spotless and new with 2 big windows, one with a view of the piste and the other of the surrounding mountains. It overlooked the road to the Flexen Pass but he reported that he was never disturbed by traffic at night due to the triple glazing and insulation. The third double room was in the older part of the hotel and it had a wonderful view of the piste from the window, a bright pristine, if small bathroom. This room had a sloping , beamed ceiling and a bed separated from the sitting area by a built-in double wardrobe. Our friends felt that this made the room feel small and that thewood- workmanship in general was not of a high standard.
For all our meals we had a lovely table from which we could see all the other guests' tables and their comings and goings which is always interesting on hols.
Buffet breakfast was plentiful and delicious but I disliked the extra charge for hot food such as scrambled eggs etc!...a bit unusual in a four star hotel in Austria.
Evening meals were of the five course variety and in the main every item offered was delicious, varied and freshly cooked... memorable main courses included the lamb cutlets, pink, oozing with flavour and with no extra fat attached.I thoroughly enjoyed the fish which was served on two evenings. If I were to be picky I would have to say that I was disappointed with the dessert each evening which, I felt, was just an after thought by the chef... I craved some nice home made ice-cream,lemon mousse, something wickedly chocolaty etc. Groovey (Gruner vetlinger)white wine was price from 28E...reds similiarly priced....We tended to either have a drink in one of our rooms for pre-dinner drinkies or a glass of prosecco in the small bar area before dinner and found the staff courteous, polite and quite happy to help us in any way and to have a little chat with us when appropriate which showed their professionalism and signified to us that this was a happy place in which to work, thanks to the good management of Marion Gafgo, the owner.
We felt that the bar area was too small for us to return to for apres ski, choosing instead the neighbouring hotel lounges or outdoor bars close to the town centre for a beer or two.
We didn't bother with the small spa area this holiday, opting instead for a leisurely soak in the bath each evening, so I cannot comment on the facilities.
All in all I would return to Hotel Elisabeth if I were to return to Lech.

Room Tip: Room 36 is fab

We stayed here as a family and were immediately impressed with the warm welcome we received. We had booked our three teenagers into a triple room and were given an extra room free of charge, which was fantastic. Their rooms were comfortable, though the bathrooms were quite compact. We had a larger, very nice, room with large bathroom and separate loo. It's in a great location, just a short walk from the lifts. Our room looked out to the side of the hotel and was very quiet. Everything was spotlessly clean. There is a boot room at the hotel, but we chose to leave our boots and skis at Strolz at the bottom of the slopes for convenience. The pool and spa area is very attractive and, again, immaculate. Having stayed at the Hirlanda in Zurs several times, by comparison the food at the Elisbath was a little disappointing. It was plentiful and very tasty but more like home cooking than haute cuisine. My only other comment is that the bar area is quite small so if yoy went in a large group (10 or more) you might struggle to sit together before/ after dinner. Other than that I would recommend it.

Our second stay in this hotel. Family run, comfortable rooms which are a good size for a ski hotel. Meals are excellent. Staff very friendly. Nice (free) spa with small pool and steam room. Free wifi in bar.
