“A firm family favourite”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

A great place to come with children, sand, (when the tide is out), stream running into the sea, large shallow pools when tide is out, surfing sometimes possible when weather conditions favourable, rock pools, cliff top walks, save bathing, good beachside café and car park. Public toilets as well

“great for rockpooling”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

Fair sized National Trust car park (currently £4.50 for non-members) with good views of the beach and coast. Toilet block down steps - very clean and tidy. Small cafe. No access to the beach for wheelchair users because of the steps.

No dogs on the main beach from May to September, but you can walk along the coast path towards Plymouth and take your dog down onto the rocky beach further along. The coast path can be muddy after rainy spells, so go prepared. Today it was dry, so much easier than last time we went. The cliff edge is friable in places, with recent cliff falls, so keep dogs and small children under close control.

Visit as the tide goes out for fantastic rockpools! There were about 50-60 small children there today on an organised visit - and they were having a thoroughly enjoyable time! There is also a free-to-enter seashore centre to visit.

“Always a treat”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

I have been visiting Wembury for nineteen years, and it never fails to please. The beach is small, but has a gorgeous view of the Mewstone just off the coast, and the view of the sunset never gets old. The cliff walks from the beach are beautiful too.
Will definitely be back!

“It's possibly the perfect beach.”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

its the perfect family beach for us. If the conditions are right you can get some good surfing / body boarding / kayaking going on (mind the rocks). The beach is big and sandy at low tide with the best rock pools I've ever seen on any beach. There's the large stream of water heading down one side which gives a nice additional activity for grown up boys (dads) to try to divert and stop. A really nice cafe that sells good quality food and the teas not too pricey. Toilets on the beach have always been up to scratch, car park is pricey but free if your a National Trust member. There's a nice grassy bank at the back of the beach which people can use for non-sandy picnics if they want. Great coastal walks from the beach too... we're now aiming to move here.

“Best rock pooling”
Reviewed January 5, 2013 via mobile

A grey sand and pebble beach that provides good swimming, but he highlight is the rock pooling and the national trust marine centre. During school holidays the organised rock pool rambles are brilliant for kids and the young at heart. All topped of by a great cafe.
