This hotel is quite nice. We stayed for one night on our way back home. The property is older but the rooms have been newly renovated. It was very comfortable after a long drive. We were rather disappointed in the lack of restaurants nearby. The pub next door was quite expensive. We asked the friendly receptionist and there is an ASDA about 5 min drive away. The price was very good for a Friday night. Great place to stop if you are driving through.

Was a lovely hotel and the rooms were exceptionally clean. Very friendly staff who have a great sense of humour. The restaurant is good although you may have to wait a bit. The breakfast is brilliant!

Stayed in this hotel overnight for a christening and it was fab! We had a family room Which had plenty of room... Breakfast was good but still think its a bit overpriced for the cooked breakfast.. However there was plenty of choice, and well stocked! Staff always replenished food and kept area looking clean and tidy!

My first stay at this Premier Inn. Staff were lovely and helpful. Room comfortable, great too see decent sized TV compared to some of the Premier inns. Comfy bed. Table table restaurant was nice, staff polite, although a bit dizzy. Pleasant stay.

Stayed here a few times over the past couple of years, and went back last week for 2 nights. The staff greeted us and said it was nice to see us again. That personal touch of remembering guests is very welcoming. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and spotless. It was very quiet, but the floors are strangely springy, so you do hear creaking as people above you walk around. It wasn't an issue though, and didn't disturb us. We stayed during the heatwave, and the room was very hot, but there was a fan, and it's hardly any fault of the hotel that the temperatures were so high. It would be nice to be able to open the windows further than the couple of inches they allow, but I guess it's to prevent people smoking, which we appreciate. We ate breakfast at the Stonebrook both mornings, and as I've found on previous stays, the restaurant does let the hotel down a bit. The first morning there only seemed to be one waitress on duty, who was friendly enough, but we had to chase her up after 20 minutes to take our hot food order, as we needed to be in Newcastle at 11am, and it was getting pretty close to that time. We also had to ask for various things that had run out, such as orange juice, coffee, and glasses. The food was, however, very nice. The following morning it was the same girl, but with some other staff in evidence on that occasion. Some of the hot items we ordered were mixed up, but again, it was very nice food. We also ate one snack meal at the restaurant, as it was a nice evening, and we wanted a drink in the garden. We stood there for ages waiting to order whilst 3 members of staff behind the bar appeared to be trying to sort out a problem with another guest. It was obvious we were waiting to be served, but none of them even acknowledged us. Fair enough, the guest obviously had a problem which needed addressing, but we felt like walking out as we had to wait so long to be served. It wouldn't have hurt for one of the 3 staff to have taken our order. We didn't order a vast amount, but it came to about £30, which was a sale they almost lost by ignoring us for so long. Once we eventually placed our order (no apology off the staff member for our wait), the food was nice, and we had a pleasant evening in the garden. Due to the location of the hotel, which is fairly isolated, it's not like you really have any choice of places to eat, so I got the impression they don't feel they have to put in much effort, as you will put up with whatever when there is nowhere else to go. The following evening we chose to drive a couple of miles to the North Shields Premier Inn, and ate at the Brewers Fayre there, which is better in every way. We visit the area regularly, and alternate between North Shields and Holystone, depending on which has the best price at the time. Both are lovely hotels, both have lovely friendly staff, but I would say the rooms are nicer at Holystone, and the restaurant is nicer at North Shields. We will definitely be back, and despite not being very impressed with the restaurant, I've based my rating on the hotel, which is certainly worthy of 5/5.
