“Good enough”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2012

It must be a good pub as our (Japanese) current Emperor visited there over 20 years ago. The food was nothing spectacular but good enough.

The only thing I didn't like was they had TV and showing local sports but that's typical in Irish pub and I guess I can't complain about it.

Take-away brown bread is available. You might want to bring it home – so I did.

“A real taste of excellent food and service.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

Morans was recommended to us by a friend. We both felt welcome as if we were walking into someone’s kitchen. The staff were very courteous and helpful. The food was fresh and very well presented. We were really happy we stopped off as it was excellent value for money and also the location. Well done to all the staff in Morans.

“THIS IS MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

My girlfriend is from Galway but lives in Scotland with me and anytime we visit Galway, Morans is the first stop we make when driving from Shannon to Galway. It's great a way to be welcomed to Galway. It's a beautiful little cottage and has been in the Morans family for so long. When you also go in you can see all the pictures of the famous people who have visited there. There's nothing better than a pint of guinness, bowl of seafood chowder and brown bread. It's amazing. I can't find another place that has chowder like it. MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT.

“Superb and tasty”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012 via mobile

My wife and I returning from Galway on a very sunny, but cold day decided on the spur of the moment to call into Morans for lunch.
We had not been there for a long time, and after this visit, an absence so long we will not make again.
We were the first car to pull in shortly after noon and we sat in the room (big table) on the right.
Quickly served our drinks, and be both had the same items. For starters we had a plate of deliciously tasting native oysters, one couldn't but have oysters in Morans.
For the main course we both had their Fish & Chips. Yes I know you might say "how boring", but believe me it is a dish that one can judge the cooking in the establishment. And we were most definitely NOT disappointed.
The fish was cooked perfectly and wonderfully light, tasty and with a crispy batter. The chips, crisp and light also and on that nice "home made" style. Not a hint of oil lingering on any of it. There was a delicious salad also on the plate, with seasonal pumpkin seeds. Nice touch.
Coffee to finish and we were delighted that we had made the spontaneous decision to dine there. Price & value excellent.

Well done Morans.

“Warm, cosy retreat on a wet Sunday afternoon.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2012

The tide was in when we parked and the view was amazing. The open fire made us feel warm and welcome. The bar staff were so nice and seated us quickly. The homemade soup with brown bread was delicious and the prawn salad to die for. Definately a place to visit on your way into Galway City. Well done and Thank You.
