Noosa has long been my favourite beach town but as many locals will testify, the town has changed.
The beach is disappearing with the erosion problems and Hastings Street is disappearing under expensive same old same old franchise style shops but I still love coming here for the walk, the coffee lounges, cafes and restaurants.
You probably see more tourists here than locals but for a holiday, it doesn't get much better.

We visited just before Easter which is apparently low season. Hastings st was very quiet. There are only a handful of restaurants and not even all of them were open each night. The area around Hastings st is lovely, particularly the beach, however Hastings st itself is just full of clothing shops which feel like you're in the airport duty free, ie expensive and nothing you want to buy (although maybe that's just me who hates duty free!). Beyond Hastings st noosa is amazing and highly recommended. We think we'd stay over a sunshine beach next time.

Hmmm, loads of people love it, and the beach is amazing and there are some nice restaurants but some can be quite overpriced. On the whole I find Hastings street to be a little pretentious, everyone is dressed up like they think they are in Hollywood or Cannes. It's always very busy and a bit of a pain to get parking spaces. Overall I much prefer Noosaville which is a bit more laid back, slower pace of life, and generally much bettter value for money. I am quite happy visiting Noosaville without even going to Hastings street.

My wife and I liked to sit in one of the coffee shops along Hasting,s Street and people watch . Then stroll along and look at the shops.
