“Far too busy - Go to Noosaville instead”
Reviewed October 24, 2011

We stayed in Noosa for a weekend and drove down Hastings Street twice and didn't even come close to being able to getting a park during the day - it is just far too busy. If you want something nice to eat try the riverfront at Noosaville instead - it is much quieter with ample parking and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes to suit all tastes and budgets. The only time we were able to get a park was about 7.30 at night - at night it is OK to walk down and feels safe but I wouldn't even bother during the day. Anyone who has been to the main street of Byron Bay will feel like they have seen it all before.

“Street upgrades a waste of money”
Reviewed September 27, 2011

I don't like Hastings Street. It feels claustrophobic and the recent upgrades have done nothing to alleviate this. It's rather like walking down a canyon but things do improve when you get to the park at the far end. Shops and restaurants are overpriced. I also noticed that the expensive tiling on the footpaths looked as though it needed a good scrub.

Gympie Terrace in Noosaville is far nicer and one side is completely open to the river. This makes it great for restaurants and the grassed riverside is great for people to have picnics, fish in the river or just sit and contemplate the view.

“Tick this box on a trip to SE Queensland”
Reviewed July 22, 2011

Hastings Street is an iconic world class destination - casually glamourous, just a little ritzy but in that relaxed Aussie way - no pretensions here. Good resort style shopping, great eating choices, an amazing beach with sand the envy of most of the tourist world, clean water that you can swim in year round and beautiful views across Laguna Bay to the world class Noosa National Park. Sipping a coffee in Aromas watching the world go by Riviara style is truely a bucket list entry. The only concern you may have is the late night disturbances being caused by drunk and / or drug affected young people who frequent the lone nite club in Hastings Street. It is called the Rolling Rock in Bay Village Plaza in the centre of the street. My tip - enjoy daylight hours and early evening ambience and leave by 1 am to avoid the problems, which are mainly on Friday and Saturday nights.

“If you love food, relaxing and beach time - holiday at Noosa”
Reviewed May 1, 2011

Having just returned from 8 super relaxing days in Noosa including over the busy Easter long weekend, we want to give Noosa a thumbs up for great food, friendly locals, attentive service, and a beautiful nature strip where the bush meets the sea. And lots of happy surfers....

Also an interesting mix of couples like us and families aswell - all enjoying the beach, hotels, restaurants and magnificent nature walk side by side.

Some great meals were enjoyed at Bistro C, Season, Gaston and Rococo - all recommended for really good, yummy food, ambience, service and reasonable value.

Also Zachary's pizza bar - excellent pizzas - and to enjoy a drink aswell!

Sails - a nice experience and wine list - but food a bit more expensive and on the smaller size/ "nouveau" style than other Hasting St options.
