“Disappointing.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2009

We planned a quick night away to Noosa, and my partner booked Noosa Blue on wotif.com. I think this resort requires a re-furb! It is not right in the heart of Noosa, and therefore quite a walk to the eateries etc aswell. While it was nice to getaway, I wouldn't rush to stay there again.

Terrible hotel, when we arrived we had to wait 2 hours until we could check in as our room wasn't ready and the receptionist was so rude.

The room was dirty, there was litter under our bed. The doors were broken leading into the outside area. It was also very noisy, not a place to go and relax.

Awful place.

Noosa Blue…. Where do I start! This was the most disappointing hotel I have ever stayed in. We paid $505 per night in December for a penthouse. Their website looked great and spoke about “resort to indulgence”. Well there was no indulgence at all. The receptionist was rude and not welcoming and made us feel like we were intruding. We were required to pay for our accommodation in full on check in and told there would be no refunds. This rang alarm bells as we had already paid a deposit and most hotels require payment in full on check out. On walking to our rooms we noticed that the resort was very run down and dirty. Our room was also very unclean. Our bed was only queen and didn’t have a fitted sheet. The sheet did not even fit the bed and was frayed linen. The deck chairs were smelly and sticky. We never used them. The kitchen was dirty, the dryer did not work and the spa was cold. However we weren’t even game to use the spa in the end. I made a complaint and received a small discount and breakfast included. Breakfast was very disappointing and staff extremely rude. We only had breakfast once at the hotel. We never felt relaxed and hardly spent anytime at the hotel. Usually we like to relax by the pool and enjoy our resort. For $500 per night we expected to be able to do this however the atmosphere was not there. On looking at other accommodation, whilst I was in Noosa, to compare, I believe Noosa Blue, for what they are offering should have charged only $250 per night. At that point I believe you may have got what you paid for. This was the worst experience I have ever had. So disappointing and $2500 out of pocket.

  • Liked — The view from the top of the penthouse
  • Disliked — The service, cleanliness, atmosphere, price. Noosa Blue doesn't have much going for it.

We booked the Noosa Blue resort through expedia for a 3 night stay in December 2008.

I read some negative reviews and didnt know what to expect but was really impressed.

We had a ground floor standard room/apartment and it was great! There was a large comfy bed and a jucuzzi/spa bath in the bedroom which was really cool. The shower/toilet area was clean and modern and it had a washing machine and seperate dryer and packets of washing powder.

There was a nice and clean/modern kitchen and seating area (sofa, table/chairs etc) with everything you need and a dishwasher. There was also an outside area with sun loungers and outside table/chairs and a barbeque (which did take some lighting).

The location we thought was very good for Noosa, it was a maybe ten minute downhill stroll to the main hasting street and main beach. This of course means a ten minute uphill back but if you arent a lover of hills there is a taxi rank at the bottom of the hill and its about £2 for a taxi back up.

The hotel also has a large underground car park with plently of spaces. I cant comment on the pool as we didnt use it.

Overall a really nice relaxing place, yeah its not brand new but it was spotlessly clean and we would definately go back there. Noosa is also a lovely spot we really enjoyed it, great bars/restaurants, nice shops, lovely beaches, we also hired a boat from noosaville for the afternoon and chugged up towards the everglades.

  • Liked — the spa bath and barbeque area
  • Disliked — nothing

We stayed here for the last few days of a month's trip to Australia - the idea was that this was to be our chill out time. We were therefore willing to spend more money on this hotel than for any other on our trip as we would be spending more time in the hotel rather than sightseeing. It was by far the most expensive hotel we stayed in and by far the least clean, comfortable etc etc. It was actually nearly twice the cost of the best hotel we stayed in. The concept is excellent but it really does not live up to its website. The rooms, furniture and fittings are tired and not everything works. The BBQ area of our terrace was dirty and the jacuzzi was never really warm enough to spend more than a few minutes in despite being on top heat all day. We were told at the beginning of our stay that it was because it didn't have a cover but were never offered a cover despite being there for 5 days. Despite the price we still had to pay extra to use the hotel gym! The staff were friendly enough.
In short it does not live up to expectations and is far far too expensive for what it is. The area is wonderful and we found many excellent beaches but we did not really want to spend too much time in the hotel which was the whole purpose of going there - it needs a complete makeover I'm afraid.

  • Liked — The surrounding area
  • Disliked — The fact that the furniture, fixtures and fittings etc are all tired

We arrived in the evening just as the reception was about to close and were told to make sure the door to the patio of our room was closed as the heater would not work if it was open. The receptionist told us she had had many calls that night about it and that closing the door should fix any problem we may have. So armed with this information we trekked to the other end of the resort to our room. What a disappointment! The floor was filthy as was the kitchen. The couch smelt so bad I didn't want to sit on it and the sign that told me I would be charged extra for not cleaning the kitchen was laughable. But it got worse. Despite ordering a queen size bed there were 2 single beds that were the smallest I have ever seen. Then it got cold and despite our best attempts we could not get the heater to work. As there are no curtains on the windows I was literally too cold to sleep and there was no one to call for assistance. The conversation from the people above us did provide some entertainment! As soon as it was light we left even though we had booked for 2 nights. I forfeited my money on the 2nd night. You could not pay me to stay there again. I wish I had known about this site before booking!!

We stayed in a penthouse suite (room 401) for two nights over the weekend.

Firstly, the noise from the nightclub across the room is terrible, it kept us up all night. Plus the room next door decided to have a party on their rooftop and the noise really travelled.

Secondly, in their room directory it states rooms are serviced daily. When I enquired as to why our room had not been made up she said you had to stay a minimum of three nights. I asked for fresh towels and when they had not turned up two hours later I called again and enquired as to their whereabouts. She said that the housekeeper must have forgotten and the receptionist brought them up herself.

We had lunch one day at the Ebb Bar downstairs. Staff were unprofessional and the menu was small, only a couple of dishes to choose from and not up to scratch.

The rooftop spa was filthy and the balcony covered in cigarette butts.

For $300.00 per night I would expect a lot more.
