“Definitely not 2nd best hostel in Australia.”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

For your stay in Noosa I cannot recommend the Nomads Hostel. The kitchen was terribly dirty and for the amount of people much too small. One fridge was broken and the staff didn't replace it so the food was without cooling for several days. The other fridge was leaking a lot of water onto the kitchen floor (which was not cleaned). The staff at reception was incompetent and unfriendly. In our room (16 bed dorm) there were 2 working fans and no airconditioning so the temperature was almost unbearable. For 16 people, there was only one toilet and both of the tiny sinks were either partly or completely blocked.
The Pool area was nice and there were many places to sit and have your food outside. The "world famous" KB's Bar is nice but nothing special. No free wifi.

For 28$/p/night it is definitely not good value for money. (Better: Dolphin's Beach House, same price for 5 bed dorm and much better facilities!)

Room Tip: do not choose 16 dorms (no aircon, blocked sinks, 1 toilet & 2 showers for 16 people!!)

The staff were extreamly rude at this hostel (apart from a english girl who drove the bus). They didn't seem to care 1% about any of the guests staying at the hotel and one with short black curly hair was ecspecially vile. The kitchen was so disgusting, it spelt like mould, i wouldnt have eaten in there if you paid me. The only good thing about it was its location and the fact Noosa is a really lovely town. We had to stay here brcause thats where our fraser trip departed from but i would never have if i had the choise.

We chose to stay here as our Fraser Island tour departed from here and we had to attend the briefing the evening before.

When speaking to staff of the phone we were advised ample campervan spots were available without power however they had facilities for campervans, toilets etc. This was fine as only one night. The price was $20. ( we've paid $21 for powered sites along the east coast) so thought this was expensive for what we got!

Check in was a pollaver, we had to provide identification details( we've not been asked for this anywhere else), I thought this simply excessive and not needed.

We were then directed to our campsite which turned out to be a car park! No further directions to anything else in the site. When looking for the toilet and shower I could only find one, I checked with reception and they informed me that there was only one for the vans! Had we known this At the time of booking we would have not chosen to stay here! I must highlight, by later that evening 12 camper vans were parked up! This is simply unacceptable! There were also bright lights above all camper can spots with strict signs that dye to OH&S regulations they must stay on all night, news to me!!! The car park/ campsite also backs on to a fairly busy road.

The toilet and shower were disgusting, in need if a good clean! The shower was incredibly slippery too! queues often formed outside each! When the bar opened later people drinking in the bar also used these facilities, infact they weren't just used for their intended use as the next morning we found used condoms and litter strewn in there too!

The pool is nothing to write home about, big dirty and I have seen better in other hostels. The kitchen looked grubby too so we avoided this!

All of the above made us apprehensive about our nomads tag along Fraser Island tour , I can promise the two do not compare, Fraser accommodation and this place are miles apart! Fraser is much nicer! Simply suggest stay elsewhere and track here for briefing!

Location wise. Beech is a but of a walk but several bars and restaurants are just over the road.

Overall don't stay hers! It's horrid!!

Stayed 2 nights and would've stayed longer if my boat for the Whitsundays was more flexible. Close to all the shops and the walk to the beach didn't take long at all. The first hostel I've stayed in where you all meet up in the bar and get a welcome drink and they talk to you about different things you can do in noosa. My room was good and the bed comfy. The Irish guy on the desk wasnt very friendly but the other girls on the desk were very nice and funny.

This is by far the worst hostel I have ever stayed in, the kitchen was filthy with 6 stoves between approx 100 people with most of these being unsafe to say the least, the rooms were cramped and some of the top bunk beds had no guard rails so one could easily roll out. During my stay one of the beds collapsed onto a girl who needed medical attention, so along with getting ripped off your never really far from injury, staff were rude except for the morning cleaners who were friendly, tbh I would much rather spend the night at flashpackers which is cheaper, safer and 99% nicer than this hell hole

We stayed at this hostel for 3 night. The bedrooms were a great size and the showers were brilliant. It was extremely hot at night and unfortunately In our room there was a fan but it was completely positioned wrong meaning that only 2 of the 8 beds would stay cool at night. Also if you don't get a bed with a socket outlet you end up fighting for the spare ones a bit. The beds were extremely clean on arrival but the floor in the hostel was very dirty/sandy so it's very hard to try and keep that of the beds. Our room was positioned relatively near to the bar and it was extremely noisy at night. Kitchen facilities were very good but you have to put a $10 deposit down for your kitchen equipment which was very annoying when after just a fork! The swimming pool was very good. The hostel is very near to the shops and is a fair walk down to the beach. The hostel does run a shuttle bus service but is very unclear of where it picks you up from meaning that we missed it. Overall it was ok but could be improved.

We stayed here just recently before we went in a Fraser Island tour and it was amazing. Even though we stayed in a 16 bed dorm, the room was massive, had it's own bathroom and it didn't feel like you were in each others space at all! The bar is CRAZY and full of people all the time which is great, and the overall vibe is friendly. It's closer to town than any other hostel (I think) and I can't wait to go back!
